Manoah gets the Yankees on Wednesday. Not sure how I feel about this match-up.

Strip couldn’t have pitched better today.

Guess all he needed was an opener.

...and several mechanical "tweaks". He has been putting in the time with Pete Walker to try and fix things. Not to mention his best role historically has been as a long man out of the bullpen. It was a mistake to start the season with him as one of your 5 starters, and it is a mistake that needs to be corrected right now. Hatch threw 3 innings in Buffalo 6 days ago, and Pearson threw 3 innings 5 days ago. Hopefully one of them will be ready soon.

In the bullpen watch out for Bryan Baker coming in June. Over his first 7 games he has thrown 8.2 innings, struck out 13 and hasn't allowed a run. (earned or unearned) Dude is a power arm that has been racking up the K's since 2018.

On a separate note, I saw something I almost couldn't believe today when looking at some minor league numbers. Back in 2018 when Moreno slashed .359/.395/.575 over 153 AB's....he averaged just 1.222 pitches per PA!!! He had 8 walks, so he essentially hit the first pitch like every other PA that year and just raked...lol Then in 2019 he jumped that up to 3.8, and this year he has it up to 4.4! Good sign that he is getting a more mature approach on top of hitting everything to start the season.

Love that Moreno bit. That’s insane!

What's also insane is his current .393/.457/.639 slash line in his first 70 PA's of AA. Dear lord that kid is hot. A 488 BABIP is just ridiculous.

It’s nice from the catcher spot. I’ve grown to be very hesitant to get excited about offence first catchers. They just never become great bats. Even the best offensive catchers are only good at hitting for short stretches of their careers.

Moreno went 2-4 with a 2B on saturday to bring his slash up to .400/.459/.646....with 9 xBH's and 19 RBI's in 16 games. Imagine what he might do once the weather gets nice in NH...lmao

Obligatory - “he’s a catcher and probably won’t hit in the ML. How’s his defence?”

Which would be better trading chip between our 2 catchers for pitching if we had to go that route?

More than 2. But tbh I think McGuire has more value in trade right now. He’s more of a sure thing if a team is looking for a defensive catcher.

    I meant Moreno or Kirk.

I dont think we need to, but trading catcher prospects bring in a premium player sometimes given how hard it is to get offense out of that position.

I'd rather trade Kirk. He's not going to last behind the dish if he doesn't lose more weight.
