Seems kinda early to be releasing new rankings.

And this is why when somebody serves up the old "unnamed executives were not happy that (team) accepted such a light return for (established major league player)" in the days leading up to the deadline, the smart thing to do is chuckle.

Even major league executives are prone to short sighted evaluations. I wouldn't be surprised if the guys who said that did any more than consult their BA top 100 list before commenting.

End of the calendar year rankings happen every year. MLB.com is updating their top 100 this week. Where was all this restraint when Vladdy was climbing the ranks? I wonder why itís different for these prospects?

Bleacher Report (for what theyíre worth). Groshans, Manoah and Kay werenít ranked but fell in the 50-100 range with Pearson at 8.

So we have 3 in BAs top 100?

I don't have access to any of the old lists anymore but this seems rather ordinary. Maybe underwhelming.

100 is an arbitrary number. Does 3 of the top 61 sound better?

Not sure what is normative per team, but Jays also had 6 other players that had votes as Top 100 prospects (Manoah, Kirk, Moreno, Orelvis, Pardinho, Kloffenstein)

Statistically speaking yes. The average per team would be 3.3.

The team just graduated Jansen, Biggio, Vladdy, Bichette and kind of LGJ from prospect status and now have 3 high ceiling prospects in the top 100 now and a pile of boarderline guys to go with a top 5 pick.

    Iíd say thatís pretty impressive.

K but only 1 of those players might come up this season. These are prospects... there is a MUCH better chance that they all fail than they all succeed.
Long way to go on all of the guys beyond Pearson.

None of the graduated prospects count.

MLB just put out it's top 100.

    Pearson 8
    Groshans 75
    SWR 98

Not as generous as BA but it seems we have a consensus 3 top 100 prospects at the moment. MLB gave SWR a 60 control as opposed to BA's 70. Pearson has an 80 fastball and 60 slider just like BA. IIRC BA gave Groshans a lot of 60's but MLB is giving him 55 and 50 mostly.

Wait till next year, Kendal Williams will be up there. With his arsenal, either this year or next year, kid will ball.

There's been little talk of him which I find kind of weird. He only has a SSS to work with though. Admittedly I know nothing about him.
