yeah I agree we are pretty deep but dont over hype Zyuzin because of his big game yesterday.

No chance, I do not think he is anything special, but I do think he is a guy who can fill in a spot on the blueline when needed.

Rough game tonight. The ducks put an end to that mini comeback attempt pretty quickly.

General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that the Blackhawks have acquired forward Andrew Ladd from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for forward Tuomo Ruutu.

Ladd, 23, stands at 6.02 and weighs in at 201 pounds. He was Carolina’s 1st round pick (4th overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft from the Calgary Hitmen in the Western Hockey League

Blackhawks have also traded Martin Lapointe to Ottawa for a 6th round pick
Thats it. two trades for the Hawks this year and Lang, Havlat, and Khabibulin were not involved. A source on 670 The Score is saying possible trading partners wanted more some of the Blackhawks youth along with these 3 veterans but Tallon didn't give in.

i wouldnt be surprised if the hawks start giving crawford more starts now that the are most likely out of contention, and khabby hurtin. i fhe continues to perform he could even make his way into the starting role for next year. the hawks have so much young talent, i think the powerhouses of the western conference will welcome us to their ranks within the next 2 years.

JT got hit in the mouth on a high stick. He got his mouth busted open, but I believe thats about it. Blackhawks.nhl.com says it looks like he only cut his mouth, but will be evaluated tommorow. Then Barker came in his defense after the high stick by Pettinger(Don't know if that whatg you wondering).

This game was the first game I went to this year(took me long enough). The hit on Toews was a cheap hit. The guy came up with a crosscheck and his stick it Toews right in the mouth. Troy Murrary said on the Post Game that he thinks he won't miss any time, and Kaner(who was a guest on the PG) concurred. Kane and Toews are amazing to watch live. You can't really tell how good they are unless u see them in person.

The thing I am confused about is the fact that Burish and Bolland didn't play, but I haven't heard anything about them being injured.

Ladd is another exciting player to watch. I think this trade ruled because I love Ruutu and he is rocking with the Canes and Ladd looks like he is going to be a hell of a player for us(early returns....I know). They had him on a line with Kane and Toews and they played Sharp with Bourque and Williams. I think I like these two line combo's a lot.

The reason that Burish didn't play is because he received a one game suspension for the fight at the end of last game.

Jonathan Toews left in the third period for repairs after taking a stick in the face.

He needed approximately 50 stitches to close the wound caused by Matt Pettinger's stick. Toews also suffered a chipped tooth on the play and he did not return to the game. He likely will not miss any action, but we will let you know if anything changes.
    Damn....50 stictches

    Heres the scoop on Bolland
Dave Bolland will not play Sunday against the Canucks.

He is nursing a strained hip flexor muscle and will sit out. Consider Bolland day-to-day. Ben Eager, who has been out of action since January 30th due to post-concussion symptoms, will likely take Bolland's spot in the lineup.
Also Burish was definitely suspended and I believe Barker is going to miss the next game due to a suspension as well for his misconduct against the doushe who hit Toews in the mouth with his stick.

Did Barker at least win the fight?

It wasn't much of a fight but Barker got a few punches in. Pettinger was holding Barker for most of the fight.

On a side note, I must say that I have been impressed with Barker over the last month. I was probably the main guy saying to trade him. Honestly, I still don't ever see him being a number 1 defenseman but with as phyiscal as he has been playing I can see him being a solid 3-4 defenseman.

And thats fine with the way Kieth and Seabrook have been playing. With Kieth, Seabrook, Barker, Sopel, and Wisniewski, the Hawks are in damn good shape. If they went out and got a player like Wade Redden during the offseason then they may have the best defenseman in the league.
