Well im sure there are plenty of reasons he can't improve. That article names some. But there are also reasons he can.

I just don't like that it seems Lloyd wants to break up the lefty string at the top by using a switch-hitter, who is probably worse vs LHP than Miller will be.

There's an All Time team thread in the MLB forum. Heres what I came up with for the Ms. 3B and SS are embarrassingly bad. The player had to have the most PA of their career with the team to qualify, so Brenden Ryan is one of the Top SS options. And Kyle Seager is about to be the best 3B if he sticks around.

    Mariners

    C- Dan Wilson
    1B- Alvin Davis
2B- Boone (Could be Cano in the future depending on how many PA he gets)
3B- Edgar? (Kyle Seager is on is way if we consider Edgar a DH. Not many good 3B in Ms history).
SS- Brenden Ryan? (A-Rod, Visquel and Guillen more PA on other teams. Again, could end up being Miller).
    LF- Raul
    CF- Griffey JR
    RF- Ichiro

Bench: Buhner, Cameron, Reynolds, Valle (if we need a backup C)

    1. Randy Johnson
    2. Felix
    3. Moyer
    4. Mike Moore
    5. Freddy Garcia

PEN- Jeff Nelson, Ayala, Kaz Sasaki, Putz?

    This depressed me so much.

I used to love watching Jeff Nelson pitch back in '01.

Specially on days Moyer was on the mound!

Mike Cameron is really unlucky to have been a centerfielder in Seattle. That dude was an absolute machine defensively. He was a healthy, better hitting/disciplined version of Guti.

yea i loved cameron, even if he was a roid head.

what about your mariner mt rushmore?

griffey, edgar, felix, ichiro for me...

i put felix over unit, its close, but felix has got to be the most loyal SEA athlete ever, and if he hasn't eclipsed Unit's success as a Mariner yet i believe he will. dude was anointed king before he pitched a game in SEA and has lived up to his promise.

I'm tempted to go bone over ichiro bc he was so fan friendly and i wanted ichiro gone for close to 3 years, but ichi was the catalyst of the 2001 team and was a beast most of his career here. loved watching a prime ichiro.

I'm even more tempted to put niehaus over ichiro.

Cameron was a beast, anyone remember that night he matched the HR record for a single game?

Lofton yanked the 5th back from over the wall in straight away center. Cammy was on one that day.

I never thought Cammy was on roids. Wouldn't rule out anyone in that era though.
