Someone or someones, need to step-up and become the go-to guy(s) in the crunch this year. Good ball movement and executing plays makes for a very efficient offense, but there are times when you still need a guy to grab the ball and beat his man. Obvious candidates to me would beTeague/Horford/Williams..

Greg Oden went through a two-hour workout Tuesday in Indianapolis in front of Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra, new Sacramento Kings general manager Pete D'Alessandro and representatives from the New Orleans Pelicans, according to sources close to the situation. Sources told ESPN that Oden will put his skills on display again Thursday for Atlanta Hawks officials before sitting down for his long-anticipated private meeting with the Pelicans later this week in Las Vegas. This would be a good risk for us!

If Oden is healthy and we sign him that along with the signing of Brand would move my predicted max win total for the Hawks to 35.

No, I don't. I've listed the reasons before. We may have a better coach, but we also have less talent at this point. I don't think we are a play-off team.

I agree were not a playoff team we still don't have any sort of wing players, and that's one of the main peices considering how stacked everyone else is right now we will be lucky to reach 30 with the players we have. Who on are team will be the star? Horford i don't think so now teams will just beat us with size. This will be a long year

I still think that we are a play-off team, and I think we can get atleast 40 wins. we only lost Josh Smith which was the gift and the curse!

I agree the we are weak at the 2 and 3, but I believe Teague will have a break out year as well we will get Lou Williams back. This team will be better this year than last year

So you don't think Devin's defense and leadership will be missed? Nor Ivan's hustle? Nor Zaza's toughness? My friend we lost a lot more than just Josh Smith.

Didn't have any last season either.

Star scorer? We haven't had one since Joe, and he hasn't played like a star since '09.

The Hawks are close to buying out the contract of Lucas Nogueira.

The team is reportedly concerned about him going overseas to Spain and the move could save them just under $1 million. Nogueira had some impressive highlights in summer leagues with a slew of dunks while protecting the rim. He's extremely raw, so it might be a while before he makes an impact in the NBA.
The Hawks announced they have signed Macedonian PF/C Pero Antić.

Antić is 30 years old and has had a lot of success in Euroleague play. He'll be a solid veteran backup for Atlanta but is unlikely to have any real fantasy value this season behind Al Horford, Paul Millsap and Elton Brand. The deal is expected to be for two years, although the Hawks did not release terms.

Would seem to answer the question of Nog staying or going.

While I'm not excited about the win loss total for the Hawks in this upcoming season, I am excited about seeing what baby Rondo and the Hair can do on the NBA level.

    Pero Antic's contract with the Hawks is worth a guaranteed $1.2MM for 2013-14 and a non-guaranteed $1.25MM in '14-15,

The problem with the past couple years when we had joe was we could never develop our young players we drafted, I see some teams that seems like they pick in the 20's and year after year they turn out to be solid players. Feels like we just trade our young players or never developed them
