Check it out rumors of moving into the Top 5...
Just read about them and was about to post it myself.

The Atlanta Hawks are dangling their two first-round picks for trade in hopes of moving up in Thursday's NBA draft, possibly as high as the top five, sources tell Yahoo! Sports. The Hawks have the 17th and 18th first-round selections and the 47th overall in the second round. Atlanta has had trade conversations with at least one team picking in the top five, a source said. After being hired three days before the draft last year, Hawks general manager Danny Ferry has had more time to prepare and make inquiries for this draft. The Hawks also are intrigued by UCLA small forward Shabazz Muhammad, a source said. Yahoo! Sports

While I think Shabazz is a no-brainer at 17, If we are able to get into the top 5 Ben or Noel (depending on if they are still on the board) are the guys I would want! Shabazz or MCW wouldn't be bad though. Exciting news either way.

Unless he's going to Houston, Dallas, Cle or Sac any other team would have to make major moves to get him or S&T with us.

He is a #3 option at most, same goes for Josh when his head is on straight. Either guy can get you to the playoffs as "the man", but neither is good enough to beat a contender in the 1st round. (If we're measuring them against recent title teams, that is.) I've been saying that for years.

If we're measuring them against the '04 Pistons or current Pacers, I'd suggest fans sit back and prepare for a long tough rebuild like DET and IND had to endure to build the depth needed to go toe to toe with the top teams.

Yeah this is what I had in mind. No way would I trade Horford for Rondo until everyone (Howard mostly) has signed.

There are reports of most teams picking bottom 1st desperately looking to trade out of the 1st altogether. Hawks might be able to dangle their two 2nd rounders to move back into the 1st if Ferry works some magic.
    Agree with the bold.

I would even pick Shabazz if we move up to about 10. In the top 5, Noel if he is there, I like Oladipo as well. Oladipo could be a great high energy guy on a Spurs-like vision team along with Horford. Next year's draft could get us the star to go along those 2.

As much as I like Teague (and believe he will atleast be our PG 1 more year), I believe we need to find an upgrade if there is a star to be had at the PG position in the 2014 draft (if we miss out on the top prospects).

We need to package both picks and get in the top 5...Horford, Teague, and our first round pick is a good start to build around, imo..

I read on another forum that when Jamaal Franklin comes back in for another workout that Shabazz will be there as well. Maybe Ferry wants to see these 2 go at it, and decide if he should trade up for Shabazz or stay put.

Shabazz has struggled alot in college but he is a great offensive weapon from what I saw, and could still be potentially a star. So in a weaker draft such as this one, I would move up to anywhere to take him.

We are in agreement. That pick that came along with Rondo would have to be un-protected for me as well. As for Boston that would be a good start to a re-building team. Horford and Green at the 3 and 4 along with Avery at the 1 or 2.

If I drafted anyone that high, that player is starting from Day 1, especially a PG. In that scenario, I might let JT walk, do S&T, or trade Lou. Otherwise that would be 3 scoring guards here battling for minutes and the ball. Too many other holes to fill.

Where you been man? Agree with the bold. I like KCP but if we move up in the top 5, I would not draft him that high. I have not seen enough of the other 3.

Wasn't Shabazz a "Cant Miss" prospect coming out of high school?
