Sure. Just because I don't want to overpay for Evans, Jefferson, etc.

Looks like the Bucks pick SG Ricky Ledo might be coming to the Hawks.

Much rather go that same route and have a good starting 5 with a dangerous 6th man. A smarter built team.
That team is way over the salary cap, and I doubt the Hawks' owners would do the same. Also on paper, the names look good if this was 4 years ago. Now, how long is KG going to be able to produce, same goes for Pierce, Johnson. Those future picks to C's is going to be good ones.

Ennis going to Heat. Looks like there is another deal in the works for one of the other second-round picks. #ATLHawks

If we actually sucked like the hornets or bobcats, then i could see your point. But with a few good pieces and a good supporting cast, that's the difference in a 6th seed from thus season, or potential a top 3 seed next season. It depends in who we add, and how well we run our new system. 44 wins was over achieving, i know we can get to 50+ with some fresh faces and new talent.
you've got to be pretty ruthless these days in rebuilding an NBA team. The last place you want to be in the NBA is where the hawks have been for the past few years.... good enough to make the playoffs, but not good enough to do anything serious. Not only do you not accomplish anything of value, but you also miss out on the lottery.

The Hawks organization impressed me this year. So far, three out of their five picks look really good. Y'all got a great foreign prospect (who played well internationally) in Lucas Nogueira and a hard nosed blue chipper in Mike Muscala. James Ennis was a really solid pick at its value (the 50 slot).

Dennis Schroeder was a meh move (given the lack of sample data available on him unfortunately). Though the upside is that he's relatively young and could improve given time. Raul Neto was just wtf??? Terrible pick (as he performed quite poorly in the ACB).

Overall though, I'd say the start to the rebuild effort looks solid. Now the Hawks should look to lure Jose Calderon and Andre Iguodala once free-agency hits (on July 1st). Whatever they do though, they shouldn't overpay for their free agents! If everything goes right (during the off-season). The Hawks could be looking at good seed positioning in the Eastern Conference. San Antonio has shown the NBA the model for continued success imo, and it's not stacking your team with overpriced players (a la New Jersey).

Edit: Looks like Ennis was traded to the HEAT (they didn't say for what though? ). #Letswait&see

Jared Cunningham will be our Danny Green. He can shoot the threes, but he is more athletic in teens of finishing at the rim, getting the foul calls, and driving the lane. Budenholzer is shaping this roster to be mini SA. Good players that are defensive minded but can also push the tempo on offense.

If we have learned anything the past few years, its that big bane players and high draft picks don't guarantee success. I get everyone point that we should stink and stock the best college players in the draft, but as a true Atlanta sports fan, I've seen this hawks team go from playoff prominence to a 13 win season, to a 53 win season. We drafted poorly and it cost us. So i don't trust that route any more. Im off thus subject tho, we're all fans here. Im tied of mediocre playoff performances too. But with a fresh Danny Ferry year and a brand new coach who wasn't inherited from the last regime, i think a few big FA pieces and a system that fits or skills, can do a lot of good

Crazy night! Can't say Ferry is afraid to make moves. I like what I have read about our picks, even if they won't be with the team next season. Ferry saving money to still go after a big off-season FA or FA's.

Raul Neto is going to Utah. Ferry really took the investment/stock picks approach to thus draft which isn't a bad thing.

While our 2012 Draft picks were more 'safe', this draft was clearly more about swinging for the fences. In his short time as our GM, Ferry's tendency has been to load up on bigs and ballhandlers, and sorting out the wings down the road. Obviously most of the roster will be addressed in FA though. Muscala is probably the most ready to contribute and his skillset (low post player, rebounder) seems to complement Mike Scott (face up scorer, floor runner) very well, while Nog and Schroeder were basically the top 2 foreign prospects in the draft.

All three prospects need to put on about 20-25 more lbs to handle their position, but the emphasis on size (height) in the paint and speed on the perimeter is a good sign that Ferry recognizes what is needed to navigate the East playoffs down the road. We'll find out if these guys have the maturity and work ethic to make the jump. I didn't like that we basically helped the Mavs' chances to get Dwight (DAL had to dump salary) by making the draft trade with them, but we did acquire their 1st rd pick from last year (Cunningham) plus another pick. Most draft graders gave the Hawks an A or B overall, while the rest essentially gave an 'Incomplete' because we might not see the guys over here for a few seasons.

That was probably the most entertaining draft (from coverage to the flurry of trades) that I can remember in some time. And the best part was watching Bill Simmons and Celtics fans whom I know personally lose their minds at what was happening. I don't believe that 'blockuster' trade makes the Nets better than the Heat, Pacers, or Bulls because those three teams have elite speed and quickness on the perimeter. Deron, Joe and Paul have zero chance of keeping the perimeter players from those three teams in front of them for 30 mins and KG simply cannot cover up all those mistakes anymore. That whole Simmons-Doc Rivers clash has been brewing for years (LINK), hopefully it becomes a thing from now on.

Also, Hakeem Olajuwon looks like he can still get a double-double. He's aging very well, one of my all time favorite players.

Lou Williams (torn ACL) is progressing "really well of late," according to GM Danny Ferry.

Williams is questionable for training camp and the start of the season, and it would be right around eight months removed from surgery when the 2013/14 season begins. It's possible sweet Lou gets his season off to a delayed start, but fantasy owners should keep him in mind as a potential sleeper depending on how the Hawks roster shakes out.
Andre Iguodala has officially opted out of his contract, sources told ESPN's Chris Broussard.

This was an expected move that is now official. Iguodala is not a lock to re-sign with the Nuggets, but he has endorsed new head coach Brian Shaw. For what it's worth, the Nuggets are making Iguodala their top priority in free agency.
A source close to Dwight Howard told ESPN Los Angeles that Dwight Howard will be ready to choose his free agent destination on July 10.

July 10 is the first day free agents can officially sign or re-sign, so it sounds like the Dwightmare should be coming to a swift resolution. Of course, that's what we thought when Howard was in Orlando, so it's possible this drags out longer than expected as well. Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak continues to be optimistic about re-signing Howard, but the Rockets are lurking as a very real threat.
Andrew Bynum is not expected to be re-signed by the Sixers after the team traded for Nerlens Noel.

We didn't expect Bynum back in Philadelphia after his disaster of a season this year, and we have a strong inclination that Bynum wouldn't have been back regardless of what the Sixers did on draft night. Bynum will be one of the more fascinating free agent cases to follow considering all of the uncertainties regarding his health.

I understand where you are coming from but I see it as if you are not 1st (champs), you are last, might as well make the most of that and tank for the next potential superstar, since we can't get one in FA.

On the flipside, if any FAs sign here that require a good contract, Evans would be one I would like. I would also take a chance on Bynum and re-sign Teague.

Teague, Evans, Horford, Bynum and another wing isn't bad.
