    Superhero Re-draft Sign Up thread

We did this last year around this time and with Iron Man 3 marking the beginning of the Superhero movie season (+ free comic book day on May 4th I think), I was thinking now (or actually 2 weeks from now) would be a good time to do this.

I'm leaving this thread open to sign ups for 2 weeks to allow enough people the chance to see the thread and express their interest. Also, for those who participated last year, we can use this period to refine any new rules, come up with a better ban list etc. And if there are any other suggestions/thoughts, feel free to post it. My hope is that by the time the sign ups are done, we have a complete ban list, clearer rules, etc. I don't want to be answering any questions during the re-draft about who is or isn't eligible. For anyone who was in the last re-draft, you know what I'm talking about lol.

Also, as I asked last year, I'd like everyone to post their degree of comic book knowledge. Do you read comic books? Did/do you watch the animated series? Do you only watch the live action movies? etc. Also, did you participate last year?

Here were some of the rules from last year (some will be altered, some dropped, others added) but this is to give the newbies a general idea:

5 different positions that you have to select and 3 flex positions:
    1. Non-powered human
    2. Mutant- defined as someone genetically born with an abnormality
    3. Alien or God (or both)
    4. Powered human
    5. Coach/leader
    6. flex (anything goes)
    7. flex
    8. flex

The first 4 should be self-explanatory. For Coach/leader, the rules will be relaxed on this. So to qualify- the character had to have been a leader/coach of a team in either the comics, movies or any of the animated series.

Also, the flex positions can't be the same. So if you take a God/Alien with 1 flex, you can't take another God/Alien. This should prevent any team from becoming ridiculously powerful and it should add to the strategy of the game.

There WILL be a ban list that is to be determined. A lot of this will center around eliminating duplicates (such as multiple green lanterns), and OP characters (such as the Green Lantern Guardians to use a more well known example)
You MUST select at least 1 female superhero/villain. She can be any of the different positions.
You must specify the secret identity of the character you select.
Matchups will be team vs. team
All characters will be assumed to be in their most iconic role
Characters to be used are from these 2 universes (hero or villain):
    Marvel-Earth-616
    DC-DC Universe
    Trades are allowed

Here is the rules thread from last year:

Here are the clubhouses from last year (for those new to the game):

Also, I need an ACTIVE co-commish.

As for the questions, I'll answer them for myself (even tho there's really no need for me too). I've been reading a bunch of comic books recently (just finished House of M), saw a ton of the animated series growing up and have even seen random episodes of some of the recent garbage (sorry they don't make animated shows like the 90s....) and I have seen almost all of the comic book movies to come out save for a couple of the terrible ones (like the 2nd Ghost Rider, Elektra, Catwoman).

Blue Waffle Alliance will comeback to defend our titles.

I've read my fair share of comic books. I watched animated series throughout my life, still watch them now. Seen all comic book movies.

I'm in! I've been looking forward to doing this again for a while.

Edit: I didn't read the bolded part at first, but I did participate last year and was totally robbed in the conference finals. I read comic books quite a bit as a kid, as well as some graphic novels in college. I've seen all the DC and Marvel films from the last 20 years or so and would say I probably have an above average knowledge of comic books compared to the average person, but a below average knowledge compared to someone who actively reads them and follows them on a regular basis.

I think we should take the ban list from last time and add several other limitations. No Galactus or Molecule Man for starters. That was a huge arguing point last time around and they should not be included. Also, when it comes to any Asgard characters, I think we should limit it to Thor and Loki. Also, only one iteration of a character, meaning no duplicates or alternate universe characters. So only Cable, no X-Man. No Onslaught, only Magneto or Professor X. We kept it to certain universes last time around, so hopefully that doesn't really change much from the last draft.

And I think characters like Red Hulk should be removed because it makes Hulk's powers seem less significant. Also, only one Green Lantern, Flash, Batman, etc. should be accepted. I would also be okay eliminating characters like Superboy or Supergirl, because they essentially have the same powers as Superman. With as many comic book characters as there are, I don't see a reason to have a ton of duplicates running around like we did last time. Although, I'm totally fine with situations like Carnage and Venom, because they have different names and different abilities, even if it might be the same suit.

Also I think we should give the commishes the right to deny any pick which hovers around illegal this time around. There were so many BS picks and unnecessary arguments last time, because GMs were hard headed and refused to listen to reason.

    I want in!

I've read a few comics and downloaded a ton of the free marvel comics. I do listen to a weekly comic book podcast though, spent a lot of time reading on wikipedia, watched the live action films (just watched IM1, IM2, and Avengers again this past Monday), and watch the animated series. I did not participate last year only because I didn't know it existed until too late.

I had a lot of fun doing this last time. I'm not sure if I have enough time to do it this time around, though.

I do think the ban list has to be much bigger. Last time although beatable, were a lot of OP characters that probably shouldn't have been allowed. Specifically in the later rounds when it was too late to ban. Also agree on banning characters like the Red Hulk.

Should be better the second time around. Halfway through no one really knew the rules, although I guess it's expected when it's the first Superhero RD

This. Over and over and over again. Lets make this some good clean fun this time around

Did/do you watch the animated series? Yes
Do you only watch the live action movies? Of course
