The Tigers have agreed to terms with first-round pick Spencer Torkelson, according to MLB.com's Jim Callis.

Torkelson is getting $8,416,300, which is exactly $1,000 more than his slot value as the first overall pick in the draft. As Callis points out, this makes Torkelson the first No. 1 overall pick to actually sign at or above slot value since that "feature" was introduced in 2012. Torkelson is expected to begin his pro career at third base, even though he was primarily a first baseman in college.

This means that the Tigers don't appear to be sellers. They are 16-16 at the moment, just two games behind the Blue Jays for the final playoff spot in the American League. Schoop, an impending free agent, is slashing .296/.336/.504 with seven home runs, 18 RBI, and 18 runs scored over 30 games this season.

still early, but the fact our young guns are looking like big time busts isn't a good thing. This could be another 5 years of rebuilding if those pitchers bust.

Same thing with Fulmer, traded him to the Twins (who we played today, and he was in uniform with them)

Got a guy picked in the 6th round in 2019 in return

Aside from Big Mig, Fulmer was the longest tenured Tiger, and brings back memories of "trade Fulmer" from like 5 years ago

the next prospect clamored for a callup is Kerry Carpenter, I don't know a damn thing about this guy but apparently he's been mashing
