Tough way to go out. I think the Lakers are in good position to make the playoffs though.

BS, 100% not true, or he'll magically play through it. Mr Unbreakable can't be hurt, just watch. 0 playoff games missed, & probably 0 games missed period. not a snow balls chance in hell it's true

He's done bro. A year, maybe even his career. Dwight or bust now.

Mike D really screwed the pooch on this one.

Wow.... I wanted the Lakers to be 100 percent healthy going into the playoffs, regardless of whether I wanted them to win or to lose. I didn't want it to happen like this. If you're Kobe, don't you have to seriously consider retirement at this point in your career? But knowing his level of determination, he'll dedicate himself like crazy and come back sometime late next season just to prove his doubters wrong.

I never thought the Lakers had a chance in the playoffs, but the real question now is what this means for Dwight's re-signing. If you're Dwight Howard, do you want to to return to a team with absolutely no depth and without its No. 1 option? They won't have any chance whatsoever to sign anyone of value in free agency and Gasol probably will not be enough on his own to get the Lakers to the playoffs.

Not only could this be a blow for the end of Kobe's career, it could really damage the Lakers' chances to retain Dwight.

Doesn't matter. Without Kobe, they have no chance. A torn achilles? 6-8 months on average.

Why would it suck for the NBA? Lakers are not a really good team.

Not to be a dick about this, but to anyone who thinks this is bogus, just check out the Hoopshype twitter page. This is all over the place:
