San Francisco Giants @ Pittsburgh Pirates - May 13-16

    .........................

SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS (22-14) @ PITTSBURGH PIRATES (15-21)

    PNC PARK

    Game 1: Thursday, May 13th @ 3:35 PM

    VS.
    Anthony DeSclafani..........Will Crowe

    Scouting Report:
Giants: DeSclafani came away with a no-decision after giving up three runs over 5 1/3 innings in his last start against the Padres on Friday. He is 2-7 with a 5.44 ERA in 16 career starts against the Pirates.

Pirates: Crowe lowered his ERA (4.02) with a six-inning start against the Cubs, holding them to two runs at Wrigley Field on Saturday. He battled back from issues gripping the cold baseballs early to post his longest outing of the season.

    Game 2: Friday, May 14th, @ 3:35 PM

    VS.
    Kevin Gausman..........Tyler Anderson

    Scouting Report:
Giants: Gausman fired six innings of one-run ball in his last start against the Padres on Saturday. The 30-year-old right-hander has worked at least six innings in each of his seven starts for the Giants this year.

Pirates: Anderson dominated the Cubs on Sunday, efficiently working through eight innings while giving up only two runs. It was Anderson's longest outing since a complete-game effort on Aug. 22, 2020.

    Game 3: Wednesday, May 15th @ 3:35 PM

    VS.
    Johnny Cueto..........Mitch Keller

    Scouting Report:
Giants: Cueto was roughed up in his first start since returning from the injured list on Sunday, yielding five runs -- including two homers -- over three innings against the Padres. He is 21-4 with a 2.13 ERA over 31 career starts against Pittsburgh.

Pirates: Keller's roller-coaster start to the season continued with a seven-run start against the Reds on Monday. Though he cruised through the first five batters on 12 pitches, he recorded only one out in an eight-batter span in the fourth inning.

    Game 4: Sunday, May 16th @ 10:05 AM

    VS.
    Alex Wood..........JT Brubaker

    Scouting Report:
Giants: Wood struck out seven and tossed seven innings of one-run ball in his last start against the Rangers on Monday. Opposing batters are hitting a combined .111 (9-for-81) against his changeup and slider this year.

A four game sweep sounds good.

You never know, but games 1 and 3 should be penciled in as W's with who the Pirates are pitching. You always shoot for a split on the road, but against this team that'd feel a little disappointing.

Saturday should be a get right game for Cueto.

Pirates ranks 28th in wOBA, 27th in wRC+, 29th in ISO.

Belt has been scratched with left side tightness. Wade moves to first and Duggar is in center. Crawford's experiencing vaccine side effects so he's out.

I wish Evans never traded away Bryan Reynolds.

True. Though he was super mediocre last season. Def would still way rather have him dirt cheap for years than half a season of McCutchen in a lost year though.

Not feeling removing DeScalafini for a pinch hitter there (0 ER in 5 IP with 76 pitches thrown).

Came here to post the same thing. 76 pitches, only two base runners, and now the bullpen has to work four innings on the first day of two consecutive four games series.

I guess Kapler is banking on Gausman mowing through the Pirates lineup deep in to the game tomorrow. Still don't like the move regardless.

That was rather early. Yeah, two four game series. Load management?

As good as they hope Doval could be, he needs to make some adjustments. He gets hit.

Home runs are an issue with him right now.
