Guillermo Quiroz Traded To Red Sox For Cash

    http://boston.sbnation.com/2012/9/4/...d-sox-mariners

    [Quote]

The 30-year-old Quiroz played part of seven seasons in the majors but has only played a combined six games since 2008. He spent this season with the Triple-A Tacoma Rainiers, and played well, hitting .278 with 15 homers and earning a trip to the Pacific Coast League All-Star game, but the Mariners have John Jaso, Miguel Olivo, and young slugger Jesus Montero at the big league level, making Quiroz superfluous.

He's more useful in Boston: Ryan Lavarnway, who currently backs up Jarrod Saltalamacchia, is only hitting .174. If Quiroz, a career .208 hitter, could translate his decent hitting season to the major league level, he could be helpful as a backup at the very least, and Boston is getting him on the cheap without having to give up any players

I've always wanted to see "Q" play in the Sox system. I've been friends with him since his days with the New Haven Ravens here in Connecticut. Nice guy, great attitude and good worker. Could be a average back-up for the Sox if he can continue to hit like he did this season.

Give me a break. They want this career back up to get reps over Lavarnway and maybe replace him? Yeah, sure. Lavarnway is cut out of entirely superior cloth then Iglesias whom might be shunted aside like this.

More like they see Salty has reached his level of incompetence and want to deal him in the off season.

Rodger Sherman? More like Sherman and Peabody.

    Guess who? The future X-Presdent...
