We have $10M available for the 2020 payroll, max of $15M, and 2021 is much the same, though Molina falls off, it's mainly eaten up by other arb raises.
Also, if we just add Arenado to payroll right now, we are over the luxury tax (there is a little less than $28M left to the luxury tax, and Arenado is a $32.5M hit). No way DeWitt pays into the luxury tax. I don't think we could even afford to without borrowing money.
For Arenado to happen (and I am confident it's not happening), the Rockies have to make him more affordable. We can't add $35M to 2020's payroll, otherwise we would have kept our prospects and gone after Rendon.
And Martinez contract wont help with that?
