There was a write up in MLBTR regarding the Cardinals position on Soto. Seems like the Nats want 5+ controllable major league players and prospects.

Seems like the Cardinals are trying to propose a package with Gorman while trying to keep Walker or Winn.
Rizzo came out saying that the do not intend to attach a crappy contract to Soto to dilute the deal.

Well the Brew Crew traded Hader to the Padres. Not really impressed with their return but Devin Williams will move into closer role.

Seems like the calm before the storm. Once any news on Soto or Montas breaks, teams will be able to chase their fall backs. People on other forums making good point that teams will probably want Montas and Soto to come off the board tonight so they don't get screwed over tomorrow.

From what I read it was Carlson plus like Walker, Winn, etc. For the Cardinals it was an either or situation not everyone.

Padres gave up a lot but will get 2 years of Soto (I assume he hits FA), Tatis Jr (if healthy) and Machado. Still have four hours to see what the Cardinals will do. Would like to see another SP that is more top end but I doubt it. With this being Pujols and Yadi's last year, I was hoping to see an aggressive move. Quintana will help fill a spot but we need a short playoff series starting pitcher. Maybe get Alcantara back lol.

Soto is headed to the Padres. While I'm upset, I get it. I didn't want Walker included in any deal. When I thought it could be Carlson and some other prospects, I was all in.
