Yeah he's overrated when you compare him to his contract and all-star appearances. He's still a good player though just not worth the contract he has.

He's their 3rd most effective player behind Josh Smith and Al Horford.

Hawks are stuck with his lazy *** for 4 more yrs after this.

they just dont have the right team to put around him to maximize his game.

hawks need to trade a few players.

I think Atlanta will try to package him with Josh Smith this summer to get rid of his contract.Any takers?

    Phoenix,Dallas,Brooklyn,Orlando

I can see these teams willing to take on Joe Johnson's contract along with adding Josh Smith.

IIRC the reason the Hawks ownership gave him that deal was because they were planning on selling the team anyway.

It's a shame that he's getting such a bad reputation for his contract though. He's a very good player and I think he will be throughout the deal (unlike guys like Rashard Lewis, Gilbert Arenas, etc.) but he'll always be tied down by the contract he signed which is unfair. Who would turn down that contract?

I really hope we get new ownership first. Then a new GM, new coach, and trade any and everybody. Re-build throughout.

I don't know if non-Hawks fans know this, but it's not all the players fault. Look at who our GM and owners are.

Yes, he is overpaid but he is also a multiple time all star, and was once considered a franchise-player type talent. He is still a good player, just because he is overrated doesn't make him a bum in any way.

and 6000+ posts since December? Looks like you're the bum.

Orlando should call up ATL this offseason and go after Johnson/Jsmoove,im sure ATL would take anything back just to get rid of his contract.

    Jameer(exp),Redick(exp),Turk,Baby,1rd for Johnson,Jsmoove

A big 3 of Dwight/Johnson/Jsmoove would be the 2nd best team in the East behind Miami.
