All time MVP's in MLB and Cy Young's

How do you view the MVP's that many players have won in MLB? Since 1956 there has been an award for both the AL and NL for it but before that it was just one award for the entire sport for MVP.
Basically my question is, how does Bonds 7 MVP's stack up to someone like DiMaggio or Berra's or Mays 3 and 2 MVP's and Ruth's 1 MVP( only allowed to get once at time)?

Well Dimaggio should only have 1, Ted Williams was much better those years of Joe's last 2 MVPs

Im positive if Williams played in NY he would have won like 7-10 MVPs
Jackie Bradley Junior.... that is all

Hunh? You are confused. When the MVP was given out starting in 1911 it was almost always both leagues - except in 1922, 1923, 1929.

Maybe you are thinking Cy? Started in 1956, one award only until 1967.

There have been numerous mistakes made in MVP and Cy Young voting. If you want to know who was the best player or best pitcher from every year, get the #1 WAR (I prefer rWAR, but fWAR works). It's not perfect but totally kills the awards easily IMO.

Top rWAR by season (only positional players 6 seasons and above):

    Wagner: 11
    Ruth: 11
    Mays: 11
    Hornsby: 10
    Bonds: 10
    Schmidt: 7
    Pujols: 7
    Cobb: 7
    Williams: 6
    Mantle: 6
    AROD: 6

Before Bonds, I don't believe anyone won more then 3. There was some sort of a belief that it was enough. Berra owes two of his MVP's to voters, because they were Mantle's.

This method doesn't look at team performance. Also no way Ted should have 7-10. 6 is quite enough, and his teams didn't win either so no help there. Joe D should have won 3 ('37, '39, '40).
