NBA TV: Kobe, Wade, or LeBron to Close a Game?

This was just on NBA Gametime, where they did a segment with that title, broke it down and gave their own definition of clutch.

The scenario is: Since 06-07, Last 10 Seconds of 4th Quarter / Overtime, Tied or Down 1-3

    Wade
    FG - 5/43 (11.6%)
    3 Point FG - 2/17 (11.8%)
    Free Throws - 10/12 (83.3%)
    Total Points - 22

    LeBron
    FG - 9/41 (22.0%)
    3 Point FG - 1/21 (4.85%)
    Free Throws - 12/15 (80.0%)
    Total Points - 31

    Kobe
    FG - 13/37 (35.1%)
    3 Point FG - 4/16 (25%)
    Free Throws - 7/11 (63.6%)
    Total Points - 37

*Noted Kobe's teammates are 6/30 (20%) in that same time span for those wondering but didn't note Wade's or LeBron's

What are your thoughts on those stats?

They just said "here is the shocker, the best in the league is Dirk, and here are his numbers"

    FG - 11/24 (45.8%)
    3 Point FG - 2/8 (25.05)
    Free Throws - 0/0
    Total Points - 24

Henry Abbot and Alok Pattani has

    Dirk at 38.5%
    LeBron at 33.3%
    Kobe at 31.3%

From the field, trailing by one or two points, or tied, in the final 24 seconds of regular-season and playoff games...this is for their entire careers.

Carmelo was by far the highest almost at 50%. CP3 was way up there too at 45%.

Wade wasn't on the list...presumably low. That was midway through this season.

Last 10 seconds I would definitely take Kobe over LeBron and Wade because he can make the shot from anywhere. But last 5 minutes would be something else.

I knew Dirk was a fool from watching him and his shot late in games, but I didn't know he shot like that when it was game time at all

i think wades percentages are so low because he had such crappy teammates for years that people would triple team him at the end of games. inside five min i would take wade but with a couple sec. left i would take kobe

Sorry but LeBron and Wade are on "closer" probation until further notice. This is Kobe by default.

    Try Rose and Kobe.

interesting. i would have gone with kobe. but i thought wade should be given the chance to take the big shot instead of lebron with the heat. might have to reconsider that.

I felt the same way, but I also have to change that and say give it to LeBron, but neither should be overly 3 happy it seems.

It was just an interesting segment to me because that was the first time I had ever heard NBA TV themselves give a definition and scenario as to what they define as being clutch to close a game. We've all heard from ESPN, 82 games, and so on, but this was the first time NBA TV did it that I remember

For reference the 6 FG makes by Kobe's teammates in that span were by Fisher according to Fein so he literally went through a period from 06-07 to Fisher returned in 07-08 where no one hit. That **** is amazing to me and says something about D.Fish

You want someone who can consistently make a jumper to be a closer, you can't rely on the refs and free throws to always win games for you. That's why you take Kobe.
