2011 Red Sox Top 20 prospects -- call for participation

With the holidays approaching and very little baseball news likely to break over the next few weeks, it's time to poll the forum for their view of the top 20 prospects. The process is very simple.

    1. PM your top 20 Red Sox prospects to me, making sure they're in order.
    2. I will build an average ranking for ALL the prospects submitted on the list.
    3. Players who are not listed by all participants will be given a rank of 25 for the lists on which they did not appear.
    4. The top-20 list will be posted shortly after New Year's day, hopefully on January 3 but really whenever I recover from 2010.

PLEASE do not post your top 20 list here. I will not promise to review the thread to make sure you were included.

Kalish/Doubront no longer qualifies as prospects right?

I heard on WEEI today that he was making very good progress and is starting to hit and field. I didn't here of any time table on when he will be back though. It was my understanding that he will be back at some point but his ability to ever play at the ML level is in question. Best of luck to him, it would be great to see him on the field again.

Baseball America ranked Doubront but considered Kalish to be post-prospect. Soxprospects ranks both. I went with the BA version, although I made a note of where Kalish should go if he's eligible.

Yeah, I wasn't sure either so I went with Soxprospects and put Kalish in my list. In my eyes he's still a prospect. He most likely will be starting off the year in Triple-A and I'm pretty sure we can all agree he still needs some developing.

He's not starting here next season so I guess we can vote him in.

Kalish lost his official prospect status due to amount of games played, Doubront did not. 2010 is considered his rookie season. Just like Buchholz was no longer considered a prospect after 2008. Soxprospects does not update their rankings until around the end of Spring Training and I doubt he will be fully listed as a prospect

    1. Ryan Westmoreland
    2. Jose Iglesias
    3. Ryan Kalish
    4. Felix Doubront
    5. Anthony Ranaudo
    6. Lars Anderson
    7. Drake Britton
    8. Kolbrin Vitek
    9. Yamaico Navarro
    10. Ryan Lavarnway (he can have huge potential. I think he has a huge breakout year this year)
    11. Josh Reddick
    12. Will Middlebrooks
    13. Che-Hsuan Lin
    14. Kyle Weiland
    15. Brandon Workman
    16. Sean Coyle
    17. Garin Cecchini
    18. Adalberto Ibarra
    19. Derrick Gibson
    20. Jose Vinicio (for a 17 year old, this kid did petty good)
This is mine. If Kalish lost his prospect status, then move everybody up and put Bryce Brentz in at number 20.

Excited to see the results. I'm not nearly informed enough to give a top 20 list, but I love reading others' opinions about our specs.
