No surprise at all. Now comes the part that I'm nervous about. Will they hire the right people and will the owners butt the **** out of the baseball side of things? Quite frankly I think Jeff Wilpon lost faith in Omar, which resulted in him dabbling a bit too much into baseball relations.

They've said all the right things the fans want to hear, now lets see if they act on it properly and hire the type of GM we all want and the type they're supposedly looking for.

Oh and I think Omar is staying with the organization in some capacity. Maybe as a scout, which I'd like so long as it's a position that doesn't put the new GM in an awkward position.

Most Mets fans understand that 2011 will basically be a transition year. A lot of money is coming off the books after next season and with a new GM and quite a bit of money to spend (hopefully) the new GM will be able to really put their touches on this organization. Hopefully the owners are competent enough to hire the right guy. We'll see!

The mets are still doomed for next year, unless they bring back to life Harry Houdini. The amount of dead payroll is too tremendous to over come. Now this is just my opinion but, no ace like Johan, limited beltran, oli, louis castillo, krod, how do you recover from that? The GM and manager situation was like a lame duck this year and i don't see how it could be any different. Did omars contract extend beyond the end of this year?

Fredi Gonzalez could have been an interesting choice for the Mets

He was technically "relieved of his duties" and everyone was under the assumption that he'd be reassigned (probably because he's still owed money), but he just said in a press conference that he will not immediately be taking another position. I guess he'd rather just sit at home and make money. I can't blame him. I'm a hater.
