    Oswalt vs. Webb - Career

Who has the better pitching resume?

*suppose to be Oswalt vs. Webb.....not Buehrle.

Oswalt. And IMO it's not even really close.

    Roy Oswalt
    303 games
    1932 INN
    3.36 FIP
    3.57 xFIP
    45.8 WAR

    Buerhle
    347 games
    2193 INN
    4.16 FIP
    4.23 xFIP
    41 WAR

In 44 less games and nearly 300 less in pitched, Oswalt has been worth 4 more wins over his career. Buehrle only had one season with a WAR higher then 5(6.3), Oswalt had 4, with 3 of them over 6. Buehrle is one of the most overrated pitchers of the last 10 or so years. He's good, but not great and not an ace.

Also even going by ERA, its still not very close. Buehrle also only has 3 seasons with a FIP lower then 4, with two of them in the 3.90s and two seasons with a xFIP under 4. Oswalt has never has a FIP above 4 and only one season with a xFIP above 4.

Darn it. As a sox fan I wanted to make an arguement for Buerhle but I can't. I can throw out durability I suppose, but that's about it. You gotta love a guy who can make it on the limited power that Buerhle has.
