Casey Mize is struggling big time and will probably start falling down the propsect list.

In six games at Erie my boy Skubal has had himself some success:

5 out of 6 games with 10 or more K's
5 out of 6 games with less than one run given up

If he can stay healthy, watch out for this lefty.

Does anyone see us bringing up any of the Erie boys (pitchers) in September? Maybe Faedo? He's the oldest I believe so I think he would be the one that has a chance.

This is part of the deal with prospects who have never played this much or faced this much high level competition, they will struggle at times. Heís probably a little fatigued and AA has had a chance to adjust to him. The question is how will he respond but thatís all part of the process and why they shouldnít over-promote these guys. I think heíll be fine as he gains stamina and learns how to respond back to the league. This is another good reason why he should spend the entire next year in AAA.

Tigers have so much highend pitching depth in the minors it's insane.

Next yearís draft is shaping up to be pitching heavy in the first 5-10 picks. Too bad they canít trade down like football.

In a couple years we could be watching a very special team in Detroit. And I mean Braves of the 90s special focused on young All Star caliber starting pitchers. Add in Paredes and Greene and we could be very happy fans.

We don't have any mashers. The top minor league leader for us in HR's is none other than Mikkie Mahtook with 21. John Lester (24 years old) has 19 but also only sports a .220 batting average. What we do have is SPEED and lots of it. Deatherage leads the minors with 45 and that's sporting a putrid .270 OB percent and a close to .200 batting average. He has slumped from being a savior to being Derek Hill, a first rounder with all kinds of speed and defense but a .200 bat BUT man can they steal bases. Cole Peterson (26), Cam Gibson (25), Jacob Robson (25) all have wheels as well but the guy to watch out for is Carlos Mendoza. He is a 19 year old that has 25 SB also but has done in only 62 games. He is batting .296 with an OB% of .428 and get this 7 triples. Watch out for this cat, as I think he's just hit my "must follow" list of minor league guys along with the catcher Eliezer Alfonzo (Connecticut) who I have mentioned several times. Here are two more to follow from the rookie league:

    Iverson Leonardo (17) .333 average, 3 HR, 15 doubles, 11 triples, .424 OB (33 BB/44 K) in 58 games

Adinzo Reyes (17) .331 average and 7 HR in only 58 games.
