Nuggets' Melo will look into potential three-year extension this summer

LOS ANGELES Nuggets star Carmelo Anthony said Sunday he will look into a potential three-year extension with the team this summer.

"Well see what happens," said Anthony, whose contract is up after the 2010-11 season. "I think my agent (Leon Rose) is going to talk to them in a week or so. And if there's something on the table, then we'll go to the table and see what's the best situation for me."

Anthony, who attended Game 2 of the NBA Finals at the Staples Center, was asked about the state of the Nuggets.

"We have pieces," he said, adding he would like to add "one or two more pieces that'll work out."

The Nuggets' nucleus is under contract next season.

Anthony remains undecided about playing for Team USA this summer at the world championships.

Makes sense for him to weigh his options.

Personally, I think he'll stay/sign the extension. As long as Karl come back (wish him the best) this is a top 3 team in the WC. All they need to do is add a few more pieces and they could be right in the thick of things come playoff time.
