Zydrunas Ilgauskas to sign 1-year deal with Cleveland Cavaliers this morning

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Zydrunas Ilgauskas, the Cavaliers' beloved center, will sign a one-year deal to return to the team this morning, sources told The Plain Dealer, and presumably will be available to play when the team travels to New Orleans for a game Wednesday.

Ilgauskas, the team's all-time leader in games played, rebounds and blocked shots was traded to Washington on Feb. 17 in a deal that brought Antawn Jamison and Sebastian Telfair to the Cavs. He was bought out by the Wizards and became a free agent. Monday was the first day the Cavs could offer him a contract.

Ilgauskas was courted by teams like Dallas and Denver, but instructed his agent, Herb Rudoy, to announce his intentions to return to the Cavs, in part because of the outpouring of support he received from fans upon his departure.

He will be paid about $150,000 for the remainder of the season, the prorated amount of the 10-year veteran's minimum.

The Cavs will have to clear a roster spot to sign Ilgauskas. Likely candidates to be cut include Darnell Jackson and rookie Danny Green, who do not have guaranteed contracts for next season. Telfair has a guaranteed contract and also is hurt, which makes it less likely he'd be cut.

you should be dancing, the Wizards just gave the Lebrons Antwan Jamison for nothing. just handed him over and called it a day.

Its funny how often the top superstars in the NBA get help on their team through stupid trades like these. NBA is rigged.

The rule should be, If you are traded, you're not allowed to return to your previous team until next season.
