Oh, I agree completely, just that, normally, when you see a line, it starts at BA. Just didn't want you or anyone else thinking we had two Catching studs on our hands.

If that line was AVG we would have got 2 players better than Matt Wieters.

Don't hate on John Otness and Juan Apodaca.

I wouldn't mind either of them making the team. Either of them + Bard can't cumulatively be worse at the dish than Varitek and Cash last year. Brown's the safer bet, Kottaras is probably the higher-upside one.

i believe both kottaras and brown played dominican winter ball and didn't hit for squat. btw, wasn't lugo supposed to play winter ball? whereas wagner did great in the AFL. I'd want wagner over these two guys.

Winter League isn't major league. In the regular minor league season het hit .219, don't much of an improvement over Varitek. He's young tough and I see him catching at the big league level in 2011.

I would be happy with brown/bard but only if it was until we can get a better catcher... I really hhope V-tek is not on the team as a player

If we don't resign Tek or trade for Salty/Teagarden, we really will be looking like the 3rd best in the east. The sad thing is it can get worst, losing Tek intangibles plus the prospect of he could improve offensively and going to Bard or another that is just as bad offensively and losing those intangibles tek gives you, plus the fact Lowell might not be 100%. We are actually looking worse. I'm not hitting the panic button but there is no excuse to not upgrade the catcher position or bringing back Tek which the pitching staff is comfortable with.

If I had to choose between Brown or Kottaras...I go with Brown, easily. Defensively he is very promising.

I'd still like to see them swing a Saltalamacchia trade, though.
