Yeah, and if he's truly on the hot seat then he's going down swinging.
I hope he doesn't sacrifice a bunch of draft capital, but I fully expect it. Really not a bad move on his part either...
And Shanahan is on the other side.
This feels right. I think you can make an argument that Lance can be above Jones, really based on upside and not much else, but that's probably how I'd rank them too.
I don't agree with the approach, but I think this is very much on the table because I refuse to believe he's risking his job on Andy Dalton and nothing else. If they were cool with him trading away...
I don't think that was ever a real discussion or at least I don't remember it. There was more talk about Wilson leap frogging him than anything else.
I'm pretty neutral on Fields. He's a decent...
I'm with you, except for the Wilson part. In the right situation (not sure that's the Jets lol) he could be awesome and end up being the best QB in this draft.
Otherwise I'm not really thrilled...
Pace may as well fire himself if he trades up to 4 for Mac Jones.
Has always felt like a guy that just throws darts.
If we're being fair, they have been close in getting the right guy. Before Emery was hired, they went after Eric De Costa first, but he was Ozzie's heir in Baltimore, and is now one of the 2-3 best...
I'd rather they keep taking swings instead of settling for mediocrity. There's plenty of examples of bad ownership lucking into the right GM and/or player eventually, a couple in Chicago alone.
I sincerely hope this is what happens, but even worse record wise. My only fear at this point is Pace trading a future 1st to move up in this draft. It makes the GM job way less appealing if...
I believe Jerry Reinsdorf is good friends with his agent (I remember reading a story about that when he got an extension). That's likely the only reason he's even on an NBA roster.
9-8 probably gets them another year too. Then Ted Phillips will sit there and talk about how close they are to being a great team and throw in some nonsense about how they're going to get the QB...
I think they'll take a QB next year. They really can't get out of Goff's contract for 2 more years after taking on $70M+ in dead money in that same timeframe.
Always has been too. Pointless to go after him.
Panthers could. Teddy certainly isn't a long term guy there.
I do think the Niners are taking him though, so this is all probably moot.
They just don't have the draft capital to get one of the top guys and the teams in the top 3 are already locked in on taking a QB. I think it's a mistake to move up for Lance or Jones.
I'm not necessarily defending him. I'd rather he be gone, but that's not not an option right now. Just pointing out that there's some upside to his scheme with the right QB (and personnel), which...
I don't think he makes it to our pick. Too many teams need a QB ahead of us.
Despite the hate Nagy gets, there are some seriously creative plays in his system and it's always been designed to get playmakers open in space. Maybe his game flow and clock management need some...
And Simms is apparently good friends with Shanny. Daniel Jeremiah has sorta reinforced it too, but not directly saying he's the guy... just that the Niners like him a lot
I don't buy the...
Not exactly top 10, but Christian Ponder and EJ Manuel once went in the top 15. QB's go earlier than they should a lot of the time and I think it's going to happen this year due to so many teams...
It's wild to me that Fields is seemingly sliding like this.
I'm admittedly not crazy about him as a prospect (though I do see a scenario where he can be pretty good), but he's going to end up...
I wonder what his asking price will be?
