FWAR includes framing, too. So it all comes back to the same issue. It just depends on how much you value framing compared to the other parts of catching and how much you trust that the calculations...

Who said you said that? Iím making the point that if Contreras is viewed league wide as a 2 win player, as you suggested, then heís untradeable because the Cubs canít sell low on him as if he is a 2...

I like Kiley, but no way Iíd trade Contreras to anyone who values him as a 2 win player. You only trade him for a big return. Sharma felt that Contreras would bring back a bigger return than KB....

Because I think Contreras can be really good. Heís arguably the best offensive catcher in baseball. He rates well in blocking and throwing. Heís still cheap and controlled for 3 years. His big...

Iíd still be really reluctant to trade Contreras. Amaya is still at least a year+ away, and we donít know how that will pan out. This is a big year for his development.

The trade returns should be very different. Contreras has more control, costs about half as much in 2020, and plays a premium position.

Itís an extra spot for a player with value. A bench player is a lot cheaper than a regular DH.
