On paper this lineup is better and the bench is just as deep if not more.
I'd go with 2006 and even 1999 over 1986 from a purely offensive POV.
Regardless of order, have we ever had a better offensive team (on paper)?
This is true. I was thinking about the other more defensive minded options.
Though the question then should be which is the best overall defensive outfield:
Conforto RF
Pillaar CF
Nimmo LF
...
He's improved, but I believe that he is below average. Regardless, Smith is the better fielder, so having him at 1B instead of LF improves us in two spots. Of course, overall Alonso is a beast, and...
I never advocated for Pete at 3B. Just wrote what I saw from this morning's videos. I doubt it will happen, unless in an emergency.
However seeing him there made me realize that not having a DH...
Pete at 3B, Dom at 1B, Nimmo in LF and Almora, etc. in CF would give us only one (albeit significant) defensive liability (Pete) vs. 4 guys (Pete at 1B, Dom in LF, Nimmo in CF, Davis at 3B) who are...
Polar Bear taking grounders at 3B today with JD. Probably nothing, but interesting.
McNeil has put on some muscle, and I didn't know that McAnn is jacked.
Ooooh...sorry about that!
If we traded Syndergaard mid-season we'd be trading an elite-level pitcher at his lowest value. We'd be trading a potentially dominant pitcher on a team that is likely headed to the playoffs after a...
As much as I want to see Syndergaard come back from TJ earlier than any human on record, putting him on the 60 makes sense of several levels: 1) we don't have to make a premature move on the 40, and...
I agree that they’ll at least do this. I prefer Walker and Rosenthal but Rosenthal, like Hand and others, probably wants assurances that he’ll close. We shouldn’t do that
Trying to reinvent the team, go toe-to-toe with and catch the Dodgers in one off-season won't build a sustained winner. We've done a very good job and aren't done. The level of whining every time...
Sandy wisely addressed catcher quickly because the quality options were limited to 2. Lindor and Carrasco and then May took care several glaring needs (SP/RP and upgraded SS with a superstar who will...
Maybe we unload Betances or Famila's $
wrong thread
He clearly has speed to be a plus CF. However I was unimpressed by his career SBs and SB rate of success. Maybe it's because of the way the game has changed, with an emphasis on power, but super fast...
Martino/SNY: "At one point earlier in the negotiation, the players tried to insert the universal DH into the discussion, but the league shot it down. The reason was simple: A designated hitter has...
I may be wrong, but I think that the DH issue is yet to be decided. I think that they settled Covid and Spring Training protocols separately and that the DH will be a separate negotiation. Emphasis...
Two likely candidates. I wonder if Gsellman is on the bubble, even as a possible trade candidate/dump.
I want Rosenthal next.
Villar gives us much needed speed, power from both sides and versatility. Plays five positions, none exceptionally well. His 2019 is impressive: 24 HRs, 40 SB, 33 doubles.
PECOTA does not like the Bravos! What's interesting is the other divisions line up pretty much as I'd expected they would.
I believe the players we had underperformed last year, then we lost a...
Thanks for the context. Out of line and seemingly without any pretext on Stroman's part. Monzo, more journo than fan, actually, is entitled to his opinion. His 2020 tweet about Stroman's injury was a...
