It kind of swings both ways. You can also make too much of a hot start. Remember that season (I think 2009?) we started out like 32-10? Missed the playoffs.
Brutal umpiring. Two significant blown calls.
I think they could have probably got Kikuchi on a higher AAV/shorter-term contract. His FB is really good, if he can learn to locate it, but his other stuff seems rather meh.
I'm more worried...
What a game from Stripling. We're lucky to have him as a swingman.
In hindsight, taking the bunt off when Tapia went up 3-0 was a bad decision.
I'm liking SSS Collins.
Orelvis Martinez has already hit 4 dingers.
The offense and starting pitching, overall, looked bad this series. I'm honestly surprised we split it.
They need to back up the Brinks truck for Vladdy in the offseason. They cannot lose this guy.
Teoscar's probably out for a while. Hope Tapia gets on a roll while he's out, because Gurriel is his typical early-season hot garbage.
Espinal came in this year and actually made good on his offseason gains. That double play was awesome.
Manoah delivered tonight. He's really impressive.
Manoah's fastball started tailing there in the 3rd. Bo with a huge play behind 3B to get him out of a bases loaded jam. Bo looks miles ahead of where he was last year, defensively.
Didn't get to watch most of this one, but in the highlights I saw an 86 MPH fastball right over the heart of the plate. He needs to live on the edges to get away with that velo. Also, did he get hurt?
We might be better off saying **** it and having an all RH line-up most nights. I'm a bit worried about Berrios, but he'll probably bounce back at some point.
I disagree with you on his defense. Reese has a good arm and knows when to throw behind the runner.
Other than that, kind of a lateral move to buy the roster spot.
This Grichuk for Tapia deal is a head-scratcher for me. If Springer goes down again (seems inevitable), who is going to play CF? We need another move.
Berrios has had a rough start to his spring. Today was ugly.
Walk and a HR to start the spring is promising. If he can be a power hitter with a .350 OBP, this team is going to bruise.
The thing about LGj right now is that he's so cheap. I don't know if I'd be so keen on him if he was making 12-15 million.
IMO he's the expendable bat. He's like a slightly more consistent Grichuk.
Our infield defense last year was really bad. We needed a defensive stud like Chapman. We can afford to have a league-average bat at 3rd since we've got Bo at SS.
I think you're describing Mallex Smith.
The Jays got rid of a load of nothing to get Chapman. The only one I'm really sad to see go is Hoglund.
They've still got the ammo to swing another big trade with Kirk, Martinez, Pearson, and...
I thought they were calling the cancellations "postponements". To me, that leaves the possibility open for a 162 game season. You have to think that's what the owners want.
Also what I want. I...
