GM and HC search

I’m thrilled about this hire.

Not because I expect Buffalo like results - we don’t have Josh Allen or the rest of that roster. But because it finally aligns a younger, progressive and highly respected GM with HIS guy as HC. This is the most successful formula in the modern NFL.

Now they have to assemble their coaching staff. Sounds like Martindale is his DC choice. I wouldn’t hate Patrick Graham staying. I’d love Fangio as DC. Also sounds like Daboll will try to pry Dorsey away from Bills as OC. That I think will prove difficult since Dorsey will likely be offered OC in Buffalo to stay with Josh Allen. A guy like Shea Tierney who is their assistant QB coach in Buffalo might also be in play as HC.

To think that Joe Judge really pushed for both/either Daboll and Ken Dorsey to come to the Giants. Now one is here and possibly both.

Sounds like Wink is the front runner for Giants DC position from what I've seen.

I guess if Graham gets a head coaching position(possible) Giants would end up with two extra 3rd round picks for 2023.

I talked with @Pro__Ant who is a film analyst covering the Bills and this is what he told me. He'll be on the pod at some point so give him a follow

-good at adjustments on both a macro and micro level. So both from week to week and drive to drive, quarter to quarter

-Anybody who says he doesn’t adjust, consider what he did once the OL came into form. In weeks 1-13 they used gap runs 27% of the time. Weeks 14-18, 48% (5th most). And then 54% gap runs in the wild card. He adjusted based on the new personnel along the OL-can be stubborn at times but is flexible more often than not

-creative with his formations and personnel

-erhardt perkins offense so it’s concept based and the concepts fit regardless of personnel or formation-develops the offense around personnel. So Buffalo spread offense with heavy 11 personnel (71% 6th most & 7% 10 personnel 3rd most)

-Likes the RPO game (19% in 2021 6th most) if it fits the QB

-Likes play action (3rd highest usage rate in 2020 and 8th highest in 2021)

-Will put the QB in shotgun and under center

-Will use both gap and zone runs. Has shown a preference for zone with the Bills but there was so much variability in the OL and RBs these last several years

When all was said and done, he became my top choice. I liked Flores at first but eventually felt it was way easier to replace a DC than an OC

That probably will not happen . Dorsey will most likely stay in Buffalo as OC .

Chad O'Shea , the pass game coordinator and wide receiver coach for the Browns has been mentioned . In 2019 he was the OC for the Dolphins and from 2009-2018 was the wide receivers coach for the Patriots

This is a great hire. I like him a lot, especially as an offensive mind, which we needed. Really interested to see if he backs up Jones as well, or if he’d be looking to get his guy. He seems like the perfect man to make it work even despite the personnel, but it’s a big decision nonetheless.

This got me excited. Was really worried for a while we’ll go with Flores.

I think that the selection of Dobell was an very good choice maybe even bordering on excellent . That said , it was reported that Jim Harbaugh will be interviwing next week with the Vikings .

It is very possible that Schoen did reach out to Harbaugh and was told that there was no interest . If they did not reach out to Harbaugh then shame on them . If Dobell is an excellent choice then Harbaugh would have been an excellent ++ choice.
