Not sure if he would be the target. I think a speed OLB like Ojabo or Jermaine Johnson would fit the bill much better than a DL/DE like Karlaftis. Even guys like Devil Lloyd or Nakobe Dean seem to fit the scheme better.

Also wouldn’t shock me if they go DB with one of those top picks and pick up speed Edge guys day 2.

More than anything what I really suspect they will do is make sure they get their OT with the first pick and trade down with the other to get more draft capital.

FYI I highly recommend people listen to the Big Blue Banter podcast episode from today to learn more about Martindale’s system and to get a feel for the players he will want. It’s an interview with a dude who covers a lot of Ravens football and does All 22 for them. Very informative.

I really do not care initially about Martingale's system . Unless yoiu have been watching a different team than I have last season, our OL was probably the worst in the league and fixing it MUST be the highest priority and if it means taking 3 OL iwith our first 3 picks then sobeit.

Waiting until the second and third rounds is just plain stupid. If we had lots of cap money then I would agree with you but we have to play with the cards that we are dealt with.

Football has changed , defenses do not get you into the playoffs . The NFL is now An offensive league and offenses starts with the OL

I largely agree about the value of offense and the need to take a high end OT in the top 5 - but I don’t think it’s wise to take a center top 10.

If we took Linderbaum top 10 we would be using that pick on a position where the TOP NFL salary is just over $13m/year. Just doesn’t seem like a good use of that positional value. I think top 10 you need to build your roster with QB/Edge/OT/DB simply because those are the most important positions in the modern NFL and the most expensive to buy on the FA market.

Look at the OL of the best NFL teams. Most have 1st round tackles and mid to late round interior OL guys.

Personally I’d go OT at 5 or 7, trade the other pick down to mid 1st round if I could to acquire an additional 2nd round pick now and a future 1st, take top Edge/DB available mid 1st round, and then use day 2 picks on top talent available including at least 1 interior OL player.

I understand what you say about taking a center that high up . I do not scout college players and rely on what I read . From what I read , Linderbaum is one of the best centers to come out of college in a long time and should be a pro bowler in a short time.

Therewas a poster who suggested that we take Hamilton with out first pick Ojabo with our next pick and wait unti rounds 2 and 3 for an offensive lineman.

Panthers assistant offensive line coach Tony Sparano Jr. is leaving for the same position with the New York Giants.

Carolinas line wasn't very good last year.

Vandy LB coach John Egorugwu is expected to join the Giants coaching staff. He coached on the Bills staff with new Giants HC Brian Daboll.
