For me I look at the 5-15 stretch in late-April and early-May, the 13 consecutive extra-inning losses due to the stupid baserunner rule, as well as losing the last three series against the Giants.

The Giants are basically the poor-man's version of the 2001 Mariners.
You can't expect anything less from Pollock. He's been the best hitter in the lineup in the second half.
I'm looking forward to tomorrow but am not expecting anything in regards to the division title. But if it happens, it happens.
if those things don't happen we end up smashing the all-time wins record, but those things were also directly tied to all the injuries we've had. Also note that the horrible call was tied to us losing one of those series against the giants. I don't normally complain about the umpires, but that was an unacceptably bad and obvious call that swung the division by two games
It's not implausible, teams like the padres often play spoiler to elite teams. I remember back in 92 or 93 when we we were horrible and the giants had an excellent team and they just needed to win one game I think to win the division and they ended up getting swept by us (if I'm remembering correctly) and ended up missing the playoffs altogether, but I do agree it's not likely either
I remember correctly, we played the Giants in a four-game series at Dodger Stadium to end the 1993 season. We lost the first three games and then we pounded the Giants like 12-1 in the final game. Piazza smacked two homers and Kevin Gross pitched a complete game. Giants won 103 games and they missed the playoffs entirely.
1993 wasn't that bad of a season. We finished 81-81.
Urias has a run-support of 6.23 this season. :speechless:
That'll help you rack up 20 wins easily.
bubble wrap Betts, Trea Turner, Seager, Pollock, Turner now. Can't afford any injuries to them. Giants just won the division.
Hope Muncy is ok and he can come back in 1-2 weeks. If not Cody will need to step up bigtime.
How fitting. We are gonna win but so are the Giants.

No shame in losing the division by one game. Giant had a great, great season. Absolutely great season for us as well, our best ever actually lol...now let's finish it off and get 12 more Ws!
I just saw the replay on MLB.COM. **** Jace Peterson for not running inside the lane. That's what caused the collision.
I was totally against the current playoff format back when it was installed in 2012 for this very reason. We won 106 games and now our season is on the line. Having a second wild card team is bull****.
Yeah. That ***** needs to be fixed next season. No way should the TOP 2 teams in MLB have to face each other off in the divisional round and event worst one of them playing in a WC game where they are 1 bad start away from being eliminated.
If they want to have 2 WC teams then make them play 2/3 games. Start it the days after the season ends. I would be saying the same thing if it was the Giants. I would love to have faced the Giants in the NLCS is the format was different. The lowest 2 seeds should play each other in the WC game. Who cares about division winners come playoff time.
Especially given how large the gap was between us and the Cardinals. If they want to do something like this there should be some kind of minimum that the other team has to be within in order to trigger a playoff. Like maybe if the other team is within 3 games or something (but we finished so far ahead that it's absurd that it now comes down to one game). I agree with you though, no point in having a 162-game season and then having a playoff like this.
I have no problem if the 3rd or 4th best team wins the WS. If they can win the WC,DS,NLCS,WS then they deserve to win. I have a major problem with teams like the Dodgers potentially losing the WC and be eliminated when odds are they would advance further than the other team if it was more than 1 game match. 1 bad start from Max and we are done for the year. That doesn't make sense considering we have like 15+ games over the other WC team.
Yeah, that would at least make it more reasonable. I hope they rethink this going forward, it's a really bad system. The dodgers and giants shouldn't have to play each other in the first round either. They should make the matchups based on record. If we win our playoff game, we're going to be in for an epic series and that shouldn't occur in the first round or as a 5-game series.

^ This dude was stumping for Larry Elder! Lol.
This ***-hat, who currently lives in Italy and hasn’t been to CA for anything other than playing baseball since he left LA (followed by SD and OAK), essentially said if we elect Larry Elder, he’d be willing to squash his beef with the team and make his grand return to Dodger Stadium as if he’s Dodger-Jesus or some ****.
I gave him the benefit of doubt when he was upset with Vin, not because I agreed with him, but because it sounded like a misunderstanding. But who in their right mind could dislike Vin Scully and be hip to hip with the likes of Trump and Larry Elder? Who in their right mind would think that after spurning our team, then picking the Mets for his HOF hat, and essentially abandoning all association with the Dodgers, that the fan base in a vastly blue city and state would say “oh yes, please grace us with your appearance at Dodger Stadium oh great Dodger-Jesus, and take us to that sacred Blue Heaven!”
Obviously he misread the room :laugh2:

Mike Piazza. Tommy’s God son. Also Lasorda is turning in his grave at the douche that is the person now. Great player and even a greater disappointment as a human being.
My brother in law used to be assistant sports editor for the San Diego Tribune and he worked with Vin often and told me that he was the nicest human being he had ever met. Lol my wife and I met him once and he and my wife talked about Catholic school for 10 minutes.
