Yeah, I'm sure it was the booing lol what an absurd thing to say. Jansen didnt turn anything around. It was a random blip. He had been dominant all year and had a few bad games and then went back to dominating again. It's not that you guys are criticizing the team, it's that you're criticizing them for absurd things. It's like if a guy goes on a 50-game hitting streak and hits over .500 during that stretch and then has two games where he goes 0-10...you guys would legitimately come on here and start trashing the guy for sucking. That's basically what was done with Scherzer today, which is just mind boggling. It's one thing for a player to criticize themselves, it's another for fans to criticize a player after they've been lights out and have a bad game or two. That's just outlandish and you guys do it all the time and even more absurd you don't realize that it's absurd.

Baseball-Reference says that we only had a 4% chance of winning the ballgame when we were down 9-5.

I happened to leave my computer and went to the TV in the living room. ESPN was televising and the blackout ends after three hours. So quit assuming.

I knew I'd come in here and find nothing but Doom and Gloom posted between the moments of Scherzer giving up a bunch of runs up until the 4-homer 8th.

I love how those of us who remain objective are framed as wearing rose colored lenses, when the reality is that the rest of you are simply hypercritical...

Let's take an objective look...

* Current .646 winning percentage would stand as the 2nd best Dodgers record since coming to LA in 1958
* In the 63 seasons since, this team is only the 5th in LA Dodgers history to put up 100 wins
* Of the 5 LAD teams to win 100 games over the last 63 years, Friedman has put up 3 of them
* We are 40-13 over the last 53 games
* We are looking at our first batting champion since Tommy Davis did it in '62 and '63
* We have 3 legitimate Cy Young candidates
* We are tops in the NL in Runs Scored and have the Best Run Differential in baseball

These criticisms that we should've somehow magically woken up 2 weeks ago, and whatever other incoherent nonsense, is mind-boggling.

If we were 3 games back in any other season and went on a 40-13 run, we'd be in first place. It just so happens that the Giants have gone on an equally mind-boggling 39-14 run.

Give credit where it is due. We've been killing it for 2 months and they've been doing just enough to stay on top. Just because they've been good doesn't mean we've been bad

I honestly don't know why all the negativity. This team has had a historical run at the division. The best run of any Dodger team in history. The Giants are just that legit this year. It happens. The year that we should have won against the Cheaters was a year like the one the Giants are having.

No. Cause we suck. I'm just being a realist here. We are not winning the WS because our offense sucks, our pitching sucks, our manager makes dumb decisions, and Freeman is an idiot. If it wasn't for all that we would have had 130 wins this year.

*Chris Taylor has been battling a neck injury in the second half of the season.

*Thank goodness we have a roster that can mitigate the dry spells of some players by still being able to fill the other lineup spots with guys like Mookie, Trea, Seager, Smith, Pollock, Lux (who’s been great since coming back up), Pujols (against lefties). And that’s not even counting Beaty who’d be starting on a lot of MLB clubs.

*Again - Despite the 4 that are guys scuffling, the Dodgers are 40-13 over the last 53 games. What more do you want?

Exactly, this right here. It was such a great comeback win and all these dudes were doing was complaining so I had to lay into them about it. Like it was such an awesome win to experience and rather than everyone being happy these guys are ripping the team

Exactly, the giants have a great year doesn't diminish our great year in the slightest. Two great teams having it out. That's amazing. This has honestly been one of the most fun seasons to watch.

Yep, this right here. The Giants having a great year doesn't make our year any less great. If not for a historic amount of injuries to key guys, we would've likely shattered the all-time wins record in a season and still have a shot at making this be our best regular season ever.

And yet we keep on racking up the Ws. That's how the season goes, you have some guys go cold and others get hot. If everyone were hot at the same time, we would end up scoring over 15 runs a game. You can find the sort of thing you posted on every roster and that's why depth is so important. The fact is that our guys have been doing great over that entire stretch

After seeing these guys turn on Scherzer last night after him being absolutely insane since coming over, it became clear to me that they lack any perspective and simply react to whatever is in front of them. Doesn't matter how amazing someone is, as soon as this slip up "it's all over, they're done, send them out and trade them for whoever we can get".

Betts, Seager, and T. Turner are really starting to do some damage. Our guys haven't had that much time together, but we're starting to look real scary at the top of the lineup. It's easy to forget, but Seager is one of the best players in the game and usually in the top 2-3 shortstops in the league when healthy (or at least in that discussion)

Gonsolin looking decent again. Nice to see him starting to get going again

So in b-ball we see a lot of guys with stupid hair cuts and they usually suck or are mediocre when they have them, then as soon as they get a decent hair cut, they go back to balling out. Well, Bellinger has had kind of a stupid hair cut all season and he's been struggling. He gets a decent hair cut, and boom, he hits his biggest home run of the year...coincidence? Maybe, but maybe not! lol

D'Backs blew a 3-0 lead to the Giants. No surprise there.

We had a .717 winning percentage last year, which translates to 116 wins over a 162 game season. We were an all-time great team, up there with the 1927 Yankees and others.

The run differential is largely a product of the blowout games from earlier in the season. When you win games by scores of 22-1, 16-4, and 13-0, then that's really going to balloon the run differential. But we've been winning much tighter ballgames since the middle of August.

We also only played 60 games. Not at all clear that translates linearly to a full season. You're right that we were an all-time great team last year and we're even better this season! We're 40-13 (close to going 41-13), which is a .755 winning percentage in almost the same number of total games as last season.

Offense is starting to wake up. Right @ the perfect time. If the offense hits like they have since last nights 8th inning, NO TEAM can beat them. If the offense that shows up and only gets 2-3 runs against Dbacks, Rockies and gets shutout for 6+ innings from bums like Cueto, then any team can beat them. Hopefully, they have finally become interested and go on a hot streak just in time. I know offenses can't score 8+ runs every game but with the talent we have no reason we can't score more than 5+ runs more times than we score 3 runs or less.

Seriously, **** the D'Backs. You kind of feel that Mad Dog Tannen Bumgarner blew that 3-0 lead on purpose just to help his old team out, since he hates the Dodgers so much.

We all want the division but I think WC may end up being the better route for us. It feels like the Dodgers prefer to play when there backs are against the wall and they have to fight back. Remember last year NLCS they were down 3-1 and most of us had them being eliminate. But then they said "Oh ****" we can't be ****ing around and actually need to win now. Either way I like our chances against the Cardinals and I like our chances even more against the Giants. Now that the Brewers lost there 2nd best BP arm odds just got better for us. I just hope offense doesn't go into a slump anytime soon. Offense shows up and we can beat any team no matter who they throw @ us.

That's how I feel about it. But I also realize that we've lost our last three series against the Giants. So it won't be a cakewalk against them. However, I do think we can beat the other teams more easily.

Giants are a mirage. Teams are bending over to them to stick it to the Dodgers. We play the Rockies on the road and they put up 17 runs on us in 3 games. They play the Giants at home and only score like 5 runs in 3 games. Same thing with the Dbacks. They couldn't even score 1 run last night.

Here's what happened:

1. All of those extra-inning losses (stupid baserunner rule got to their heads).
2. That 5-15 stretch over 20 games during late-April and early-May.
3. Losing the final three series against the Giants.

The only chance we have is if we win 2 of 3 from the Brewers while the Padres win two of three from the Giants.

Right. Which, extrapolated to a 162 game season, would give the Dodgers 6 total 100 win seasons in the 63 years since coming to LA, with Friedman having 4 of them in only 7 seasons.

Do you honestly think this roster, as currently constructed, is worse than last years?

Starting rotation - 2021
Bullpen - 2021
Lineup - (despite Belli’s down year, we also have Trea - 2021)

The only thing I’ll give the 2020 team might be the defense.

Again - this team has been unhealthy and they seem to be squaring up in that regard at the right time.
