I was a big fan of his shortly after they drafted him. I stopped hearing about him after that. Then he resurfaced again!! But honestly, after 10 years of not being able to throw strikes, coupled with his age approaching 30, it was probably time to cut ties with him.
Javy has been fantastic for the Mets . He may have saved his FA . Good for him.

Meanwhile, Schwindel is on a nine-game hitting streak. Just casually. If you go back to two games before that – his first two back-to-back games without a hit – you get the “coldest” streak he’s had with the Cubs. The last 11 games, Schwindel is hitting only .333/.373/.604 with a 158 wRC+. That’s his worst stretch with the Cubs so far. I did not mis-type that sentence. Bonus: he has a 9.8% K rate during that stretch. What he’s doing continues to break my brain.

Yah, I'm not gonna by that different voices are making Javy take walks. We've certainly seen him try before and it usually didn't work in his favor. Id say it more likely has to do with a stretch of better then normal recognition and luck.
Yeah I wouldn’t read too much into it unless it happens over a much longer sample.
If it’s an actual change in philosophy (which I very much doubt) and he just needed Lindor to tell him to take a damn walk, that would be pretty hilarious.

Schwindel won’t continue to hit 330 but he’s hit 20+ hrs three times in the minors and has had some production consistently in the minors. I think he could hit .275 with 800 ops over a whole season. Ortega and Wisdom just haven’t consistently done the job like Frank.
And they all have age against them and none are likely to be all stars.
Would love to have them on the bench of a really good team. They would be a heck of a bench.
