The McKinney thing sucks but it is what it is. If he had options, I’d like to see him in the minors but oh well. I’m gonna miss screaming BILLAYYYY at the tv everytime he does something.
Rincon is having a nice season so at least they got something for him. Regardless of what scouts may think, an .813 OPS in AA is pretty solid. Also helps the Mets with losing an OF like Fargas.

Rincon is younger and a power hitter too. But I can't seem to find a scouting report on him.
To get anything for a guy you DFA is a plus.
I like Blankenhorn more as a power lefty off the bench.

Matt Boyd and Kyle Gibson are free agents after next season. They would be good choices if the price is right. I'd think they might cost less than Stroman cost for the same amount of control remaining.
I’ve thought the Tigers would be a tremendous trade partner for a while. Something like Boyd, Cisnero, and Grossman would be a fantastic get for this team while also not costing a hell of a lot. We got Rich Hill for basically nothing. Good move.
Since the start of June though he hasn't been too good at all and his K's seem to be way down. Sticky situation I'm sure. Hopefully he pitches decent for us.

Kimbrel makes sense on two fronts. The first is obvious , he strengthens our bullpen a lot but secondly you do not want the Phillies or Braves or Nats or even the Dodgers to get him.

Mets are scouting Cubs-Dbacks in Chicago (and others elsewhere presumably). Of interest there: Bryant, Escobar, Davies, relievers. Jays and Phillies are among teams with scouts at Clark and Addison, as well.
I know people say there isn’t a fit for Bryant but having multi-position guys on a roster where there’s a few question marks, is a great thing. He can play third and he can play the outfield. A RHB can spell whichever lefty is struggling against LHP (Conforto) and play virtually anywhere. He’s been a neutral defender in the outfield but not so great at third, still plenty of ABs for JD is Bryant is acquired and plenty for Villar/Guillorme until Lindor comes back.Quote:

I think getting a surefire reliever should be the priority, as is a backend/innings eating SP, a 3B is a bit of a luxury at this point but I think the Mets need a good RHB regardless.
