I saw it, but must have missed something. What was that all about

i bet javy baez is gonna be traded before todays game lol,
Yeah I really don’t want Baez.
Him and Lindor are 1/2 for the most overrated guys in the game…Lindor is at least likable. The majority of the 2016 Cubs are whiny little brats, honestly.
Hope AG takes Baez down today lol.

Eh. I don't like how Baez reacted by hitting a fly ball that would have been an out if it mattered and the fielder cared to catch it. Acting like that on basically a sac fly? Gimme a break.
But also, Amir Garrett acts like that too and he's one of the worst RP's in the game.
Anyone worried that Kumar Rocker hasn't signed yet?
Drat and double drat.
We missed the boat on Clay Holmes.
So as y’all know, I ****ing love the trade deadline and I’ve trying to dissect a lot of the candidates that are on the block but it feels odd this year, maybe because last year was so weird. So I’ve been trying to compile a list of guys who will be traded and who I think is probably the best addition for the Mets.
We’ll get this one out do the way first…Guys who I don’t think are likely to be traded:
Jose Ramirez, Kyle Hendricks, Ketel Marte, Joey Gallo, Meril Kelly, German Marquez, Byron Buxton, Taylor Rogers, Cedric Mullins and Trea Turner…could be missing a few guys.
Guys who I think will get traded:
Starting pitchers:
Max Scherzer
Tyler Anderson
John Gray
Zach Davies
Jose Berrios (maybe? this one is conflicting)
Kyle Gibson
Danny Duffy
Michael Pineda
Relievers:
Craig Kimbrel
Ian Kennedy
Joakim Soria
Richard Rodriguez
Ryan Tepera
Daniel Hudson
Position players:
Kris Bryant
Javier Baez
Anthony Rizzo
Trevor Story
Johnathon Schoop
Whitt Merrifield
Eduardo Escobar
Starling Marte
Josh Donaldson
I’d like to see the Mets get a RHB…preferably Bryant, I’d be okay with Story, too. Donaldson only if the Mets get Berrios back, too.
As far as pitchers go, I think Scherzer ends up on the Giants or Padres. Outside of Scherzer, I’d want to see the Mets get Gray or Anderson. For relievers, Kimbrel is at the top of my list but Daniel Hudson and Ian Kennedy would be strong #2s
Whatever pitcher the Mets get, I think putting a 6 man rotation when everyone is healthy is the smart thing to do…also makes pushing the starters a little easier. deGrom/Stroman/Walker/Carrasco/Megill/Anderson would be a great 6 man.
I think the Mets end up with Bryant or Story…we also get a pitcher or two back from either team. Davies + Tepera from the Cubs or Gray from the Rockies…we’ll see.
From Tim Britton in The Athletic:
"After their loss in Monday’s opener to Kyle Muller, the Mets dropped to 10-19 on the season against left-handed starters — including 3-10 in the last six weeks. In those 29 games against southpaw starters, New York is averaging a meager 2.72 runs per game."
Bryant would help...
Mets interested in Tyler Anderson. Probably too late to fly him in to pitch tonight I guess. He'd be decent depth. We don't need to trade top prospects for someone like Scherzer and give ourselves only one WS run while giving our division rival a good potential future starting player.
I think Tyler Anderson and either Bryant or Story can be had without including any of our top 6-7 prospects.
Ginn, Palmer, Mangum. Think that'd be enough for Bryant and Kimbrel or would someone else top that offer?
So hard to gauge what it'd take not knowing what other teams are offering.
It should be like, an auction style. How fun would that be if it were televised!
All GMs meet and one goes on the stand offering up a player. GM's then hold up their number and announce who they're offering, and so on until said player is declared "sold".
Cubs want Crow-Armstrong for Bryant, Mets are balking.
Scherzer will cost a top 3 prospect as per Bowden.
At 36 and a FA after this year, not sure I want to take a chance on Scherzer. Maybe 5, 10 years younger then yes and work hard to get him to sign with us.
I believe the Mets are a good team, but I feel the NL West, Rays, Boston and Houston are too strong.
Story might be available at a decent cost. He's having a sub-par offensive and defensive year, the issue of the Coors splits, and people think he might have an injury that has affected his throwing...Since the Rockies will get a supplemental pick for him after a QA, it might not take more than the equivalent of that...

Teams pursuing Scherzer believe Nats want to act within next 48 hours to create time to work through his no-trade. Chances of Scherzer making his start Thursday seem remote. Scratched from last start due to right triceps discomfit. Teams might ask: How do we know he is healthy?
Scherzer is the best player on the trade market.
Jake and Max is a sick combo come playoff time.

Interest is predictably immense in Max Scherzer, who is suddenly the most impactful guy on the market and very likely to be traded. There are said to be about 14 teams that have called, including some barely in the race.

Source close to Scherzer/Nats situation: "No chance" Washington trades him to Mets no matter offer. Story soon.
Kimbrel's contract includes a club option for next year.
Phillies are getting Tyler Anderson. Not an earth shattering move but they obviously believe they are still in it. That's the problem with the Mets not really separating themselves at all.

Tyler Anderson close to being dealt to Phillies

Little more on the Scherzer situation. Mets did enough digging to learn that Scherzer himself would not agree to play for them. Has no trade rights.
