Baez works because he just publicly stated he wants to play here. So the chances of it not being a rental goes up. Just by looking at basic stats it almost looks identical to what Lindor is doing. Poor shortened season last year and continuing it into this season and slowly getting better.

I wonder if JD Davis goes to Chicago with other pieces since a few of their starters might be traded. I wouldn’t be against it.

The line up would be crazy and the defense would get better.

Love his power, and he would be an improvement on D. But he's headed for an Adam Dunn-is 200 Ks this year and I don't think I could handle watching that for a prolonged period.

If the Cubs want JD Davis, we really shouldn't have to give anything else, or at least not much more for a Bryant/Davies trade because of the control JD has.

I'd like that. Try to expand it and include JD and prospects for Bryant, Baez, and Davies. Still wouldn't have to include a top prospect. Doubt anyone's offer beats that for 3 rentals.

Then I'd look to flip Conforto to an AL contender for a rental RP perhaps.

Sounds easy, right?

Marlins are close to trading OF Starling Marte to the Oakland Athletics per sources.

The dream is over.

Didn't think we'd get Marte anyway. At least he went to the AL.

The return on him should be indicative for what someone like Bryant would cost.

Oh **** Marlins got Jesus Luzardo. Feel like that's a ****ing steal.

What could happen next year is we resign Baez, Conforto walks, McNeil moved to RF, and Guillorme plays 3B. The IF defense is improved even more and Guillorme is a very solid cheap option until Baty or Mauricio take over. (Given they are still with the team)

What this also does is not have the Mets worry about defense on the IF and not having a log jam for that DH spot with Cano potentially coming back.

The downside to that happening is Cano is still with the team and we are still left handed heavy.

Tbh Luzardo seems like a scrub, I don’t see this as being such a fleece like others suggest.

Even if that trade was never made, and Kelenic took the same route and performed in the same way, we'd still be better off. Dunn may have helped us or been a trade chip for someone else.
