If they do nothing, it looks much worse. I understand they want to build a perennial top farm system but winning this division should be their main priority right now. Not saying you do it all costs but making an uncomfortable trade won't kill them.

We can get Bryant and Kimbrel if we part with guys like a couple guys of Ginn, Cortes, Palmer, Ramirez. Especially if they like JD as well. That's something I'd do
They won’t do “nothing,” but they’re in a tough spot here. They’re in first, but in a bad division, and aren’t anywhere near the Dodgers or Padres, talent-wise. With this in mind, trading for controllable pieces is the best play, but their farm isn’t deep enough to absorb the cost, so they’ll probably have to settle for a rental, like Bryant, and hope they can sign him
Schwaber to the Red Sox according to Passan and Heyman
Getting a RP or Zach Davis is the equivalent to doing as little as possible. I am fine with Bryant and a RP though. Just something to help them win the division and like Sick said in a short series anything is possible. The best on paper talent doesn't always equal a WS win. Controllable assets are nice in theory but it comes down to what is available and right now (reportedly) that market isn't particularly good.
Nationals are trading Schwarber to the Red Sox.

Thoughts? I can get on board with this with the plan to pick up Kimbrel's option. I doubt anyone has offered better up to this point.
Padres are getting Daniel Hudson. Nationals are no factor anymore. Just a 3 team race now. Surprised they moved Turner though. He was still a controllable asset.
Good thing is with the Nationals and Marlins getting weaker, hopefully we get some extra wins. Of course that means Braves and Phillies will too. Was hoping the Braves would sell and trade Freeman. Doesn't look like that will happen.
Facts
I just realized we have 13 straight games against the Dodgers and Giants in AUG.
Maybe we should just turn into sellers now before we fall behind the Phillies next month... lol
Also, the original rumor was the Padres were close on Scherzer. That would have meant we dont face him the rest of the year. Now we may face him twice in less than 2 weeks in AUG. How lovely. lol
