So you say don’t overreact and then you do exactly that.

Calling him to be benched is a MASSIVE ****ing overreaction. Massive. Yes he’s not great but dear lord this is just stupid the suggestions that are flying around.

If it meant winning game 6 and 7, would you be on board?
If Ben off the bench as Joel's back-up for 10 to 12 minutes a night meant 76ers in the ECF would you do it?
I'm not asking you if you think it would work or not, but if shifting his role was the difference, would it be okay?
Or you think Ben should start and play 36 MPG but then the 76ers don't advance to the ECF.
Which would you prefer?
I think the thing with Ben is that it's obvious what the guy needs to do to improve and help Philly, but he's either too stubborn or too carefree to do anything about it. In the minds of many (including my own), we envision Ben to be an LBJ-lite in the true sense.....and as fans we're getting significantly less than that. I'm not gonna overreact and suggest he should be benched and all that, because he does practically everything else well.
But that's enough anymore. He needs to develop a shot....and it's pathetic on his part that we're still here. 4-14 FT shooting for a guard is a joke.
Its not really an over reaction though bro. Yes Harris was terrible too, and Doc needed to make adjustments no doubt. But this Simmons issue has been a thing for a couple years now. Its not just this series. Ben really limits the 6ers offensively to the point where its hamstringing them. I honestly didn't even need to watch this series to come to this conclusion. Its just glaring at this point and guys who were kinda on the fence about Simmons are now leaning the other way because its just obvious now that hes hold the team back.
boom, you nailed it. Collin Cowherd does a piece on this and I thought it was bang on. take a listen to this 4 min clip. https://sw-ke.facebook.com/TheHerd/v...1320540290826/
I would say the idea Ben should be benched and play no more than 12 minutes or something similar is an overreaction. As far as I am aware they generally were leading with him starting games before. The team has positive stretches even entire first quarters and half basically even the games being lost. They were +15 and +23 on the court each of those half times with him out there. It isn't like he holds them back the entirety of the game and isn't adding some value still it has just become obvious at times the flaws do hold them back. Him starting has not been an issue.
It definitely is.
So if you bench Ben, who's starting and what's the expectation? Maxey? He hasn't looked great lately. Shake? He had 14 good minutes. Hill? Have you seen what he's done?
Benching Ben is an overreaction more because we have nothing to turn to more than "Ben's some great player". There would be no spark, and I'd actually contest that Doc/Brand/Morey would lose the team if they benched Ben.
He's just part of the thing holding the team back, not the thing.
Thank you.
And if Danny Green were healthy I'm willing to bet we win at least this game. Then the crunch time lineup could be Curry, Thybulle, Green, Harris, Embiid.
Also apparently everyone missed defensive stud Lou Williams shutting down Tobias Harris down the stretch too.
Hes a big thing though. I mean how long are we going to turn an blind eye to it.... This might be Simmons last game in a 6ers uniform. Maybe benching him is not the answer but Docs gotta try something.
Ben cant be having 8pt,11pt, & 4pt outings in 38 mins, if thats what he is providing then no, limiting his minutes is not a huge over reaction.. If anything you are under reacting to those piss poor performances.
furthermore if you think the Twovles are going to give up Towns after watching Ben in these playoffs think again my man. with all due respect, I feel you still somewhat have rose coloured glasses on when it comes to Ben Simmons. I had a similar thing with Derozan when he was a raptor, I loved the guy but his short comings on defense were just way to much to over come and its a similar situation with Simmons only his short comings come on the offensive end. Sometimes a players flaws can be hidden so much before it becomes an anchor to the team.
