He knocked them down. I was taking about him in general. He needs a jump shot but he gets the floor. I think that is very underrated skill for guards.

And honestly got to be encouraged by this game. So many other guys stepped up and took pressure off Embiid from having to do it all. The offense and defense finally didn't change from one half to the next, so they stayed in a rhythm.

He was huge. The offensive rebounds were big too. Plus the Hawks missed a lot foul shots in that 4th quarter. The Sixers made all there clutch ones. Got to credit that

Maxey played more minutes then Simmons. More minutes then Hill and more minutes then Matisse. Doc took a chance and it pays off. Some players live for moments like this and hopefully this 20 year old kid is one of them.

Yea, he's gonna be good. He's got a good feel for probing the lane and keeping the dribble. You could really see Hill taking him under his wing this season too which was nice. He still needs a lot of time though.

You could easily see his frustration tonight. Some nice growth from him is he no longer turns into a chucker from 3 then he doesn't get calls, he keeps going at it. But you could see it eating at him when he didn't get some calls, and that Collins dunk pissed him off, easy to see.

The problem with Ben is many fold, but it starts with two things:

He's not a PG and someone in the FO is coddling him and letting him continue this charade.

There's some basic PG things outside of the shooting alone that Ben just doesn't or can't (due to size) do that needs to happen. He picks up his dribble way too much in the paint. Sometimes it leads to some unbelievable passes and sequences, but often it leads to turnovers or guys jacking up shots. Sometimes he leaves his feet without the defense having moved, leaving himself hanging.

I think it's a size thing, but he can't really probe the lane and pressure defenses because of his size. He can't really get in and out of the lane that easily to offset not having a shot. So when the defense doesn't react it creates some issues, especially when he picks up the dribble.

I remember having this same argument with another mod a few years ago who was insistent that Simmons just needed to jack up 3's even at a 20% clip, and I called it out as stupid. I said he needed to become a better foul shooter so he could drive and not worry about what's to come next. He needed to develop a better floater to cause some problems so teams couldn't just wait for him.

I keep coming back to he's shooting with his wrong hand. Trust me as someone that shoots with their off hand it's a challenge in certain things. I'm lefty but shoot righty. I suck at certain shots (like moving to my left really well, I can't twist to shoot cleanly). He needs to just have someone sit him down and tell him to shoot with his ****ing right hand. He's got to think and process too much to shoot left handed and that's why the issue is mental for him. It's not natural to do what he's doing.

This is why, even if he doesn't hit the full on peak he could hit, a move for Ben is likely the best thing. Someone within Philly is coddling him and telling him what he's doing is ok to do. We changed coaches and even Doc has gone from "I'm gonna be tough on him" to the same soft as baby **** spot that Brett Brown was in with "oh when it happens it happens". Partially I'm gonna blame Scott O'Neal, because he was the **** **** that insinuated that Joel would be traded before Simmons. So I really think getting moved to a team that thinks they can rebuild the shot, play him at PF rather than PG, and not be afraid to be tough with him is a good move. I am curious if SAS would do White+Picks for Ben. Send the picks with other picks out for a SF from our end then.

He can’t shoot, doesn’t have a floater, has 0 wiggle in his dribble game, and little footwork in the post. Those are skill issues. Size/speed/natural coordination are his savior but right now he is too soft to use that either

I guess the real question here is whether Ben is what he is or if he can get better in even one of these areas?

I think with dedication over just a 4 month off-season with the right trainers he can do it. But does he even want to do it? He hasn't developed in one single category since a rookie. He came into the league without a post game, a floater, a jumper, a FT shot, a euro step, etc. And 5+ years later he has added none of those. All he's done is become stronger and more fit. I totally blame Philly management and coaching.

I think you have to blame the player but I agree. He has an elite natural foundation to build on. Floor sense plus very elite, size and speed. I think that is huge bc it means that if he can get better at anything it makes everything else easier. If Ben can shoot a 15 footer, he can get a shoulder past guys easier and more cuts will be available to him etc. This is why I like Obi Toppin on the Knicks. Its too a lesser degree but bc of his natural foundation, touch and floor sense newly learned skills can easily build on one another. You have to improve to make that happen though.

It not going to take elite skills in these learned areas but bottom line is he has to get better and really hasn’t

I think he is full of **** but he is dealing with a lot of adversity. He’s hurt and he didn’t have it last night but he still helped drag his team across the finish line by bullying, rebounding on both ends, making key free throws, and playing D. His play was gutty. His post game was cunty

After game 5 and 6 where Joel struggled more than he usually does, more than likely due to injury. He is gonna ball out and take the 6ers to the ECF. He is built for it regardless of how much he is injured.

You are right, officials are not doing their job. Allowing Embiid to be abused and protecting Young. Atlanta #20 who supposedly dunked over Embiid, had to be a Flagrant2 on #20. He not only hit Embiid in the face he then climbed his back and put his arm around & on embiid's shoulder to push him down and for him to push off of. Shame on the NBA! And it was the same #20 that got a flagrant called on embiid by putting his face into embiid (what happened to cylinder rule?) & then flopping. Made embiid fall where #20 then punched him & then kicked him. Then #20 had his hands around embiid's throat while embiid just put his hands our wide & did not retaliate. Meanwhile Young rushed in & pushed embiid violently in the back & continued pushing embiid into #20.#20 & young should have both been ejected. REFS ALLOWED THIS, nba looks the other way

Thanks...sadly Collins has some skills but I have seen him do several punk thug things and then act innocent. That usually only unskilled players revert too, in order to keep employed. He definetly needed to have gotten a Flagrent2 & ejected. He instigates & tries to incite.....hopefully the 76er crowd Boo's him a lot.
