Scranton Railriders (4-5) (Doubled up by Norfolk, 14-7)
SS Oswaldo Cabrera: 0-for-4, RS, BB, 2 K
He was scorching hot at this level dating back to last season. Now he has run into a bit of an inevitable slump (1-for-17). Baseball is the most humbling sport on the planet.
3B Miguel Andujar: 1-for-4, HR (1), 2 RBI, RS, BB, K
I still think he can be a quality MLB hitter again, though some may disagree. Regardless, there is no room on the Yankees’ roster and there likely won’t ever be.
1B Ronald Guzman: 1-for-4, 2B (1), 2 RBI, RS, BB, K
Guzman has two HR and a double over his last three games. Other than beating up on the Yankees (including a 3 HR game), he hasn’t done much in MLB – but I think he provides solid 1B/DH depth.
RF Phillip Evans: 1-for-5
LF Ender Inciarte: 1-for-3, BB
PH Evan Alexander: 0-for-1
2B Oswald Peraza: 0-for-3, RBI, RS, BB
They pushed him down the lineup tonight and gave him a start at 2B. I don’t mind either – he may be pressing a bit at the plate and there is nothing wrong with adding to his versatility.
PH Matt Pita: 0-for-1
CF Tim Locastro: 1-for-3, 2 BB
C Max McDowell: 1-for-4, RBI, RS, HBP
DH Ryan LaMarre: 2-for-3, 2B (2), RS, HBP
RHP Luis Gil: (L, 0-1) 1.2 IP, 5 H, 7 R, 6 ER, 5 BB, 3 K, HR
He is off to a slow start in his first two starts of 2022. Some old habits: Too many walks & home runs.
RHP Vinny Nittoli: 2.1 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 0 BB, 1 K, HR
RHP Michael Gomez: 2.1 IP, 2 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, HR
Triple-A debut. Given that they needed to use Evan Alexander (OF) yesterday, this could be a “We need a fresh arm” situation.
LHP Trevor Lane: 1.2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 4 K
5 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 8 K
RHP Reggie McClain: 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K
Somerset Patriots (4-3) (Lost to Erie, 9-2)
SS Anthony Volpe: 0-for-4, 3 K
I still think the kid will figure this out in due time.
LF Elijah Dunham: 1-for-4, 2 K
He has hit safely in five of his six games this season.
C Josh Breaux: 1-for-4, HR (3), RBI, RS, K
39 HR in 742 career PA,
DH Brandon Lockridge: 1-for-3, RS, BB, 2 K, SB (3)
7-for-23 with three doubles and four walks. 3-for-3 stealing bases.
CF Jeisson Rosario: 1-for-4, 2 K
1B Chad Bell: 1-for-4, 2B (1), RBI, 3 K
RF Michael Beltre: 0-for-3, BB, 3 K, SB (3)
3B Max Burt: 0-for-3, BB
2B Jesus Bastidas: 0-for-3, BB, K
RHP Luis Medina: 2.1 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 4 K
The defense behind him wasn’t great, which limited his outing. Overall, other than the length of the outing, it was good enough for his second start of the season.
LHP Josh Maciejewski: 3 IP, 9 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 0 BB, 5 K, 2 HR
RHP Steven Jennings: 2.1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K
I have learned one thing about the Yankees: Don’t ever count out any random reliever they sign to a minor league contract.
RHP Charlie Ruegger: 1.1 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 3 K, HR
2022 debut for the 33rd round pick in the 2018 draft out of Stevens Institute of Technology.
Hudson Valley Renegades (4-3) (Lost to Rome, 4-3)
CF Everson Pereira: 2-for-3, 2B (1), 2 RS, BB, K
Pereira has hit safely in all but one game this season. Pereira has walked at least once in all but one game this year. He is 9-for-24 on the season (1 2B, 1 3B, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 10 R, 7 BB, 8 K, 2-for-3 SB).
SS Cooper Bowman: 2-for-3, SF, 2 RBI, 2 SB (5)
He is 18-for-19 stealing bases in 36 career games. He is 5-for-21 (1 HR, 6 RBI, 5 BB, 7 K)
3B Tyler Hardman: 0-for-3, SF, RBI, 3 K
1B Spencer Henson: 1-for-4, 2 K
C Carlos Narvaez: 0-for-4, K
RF Pat DeMarco: 1-for-3, 2 K, CS (1)
He is off to a sneaky 8-for-24 start.
2B Eduardo Torrealba: 1-for-3, BB, CS (1)
DH Saul Torres: 0-for-4, 2 K
2022 debut for the 23-year-old catcher. He went 16-for-68 in 27 games last season (also at this level).
LF Aaron Palensky: 1-for-4, RS, 2 K
RHP Beck Way: 5 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 9 K, HR
He is near the top when it comes to “buzz” prospects within the system. The nine strikeouts represent a new personal high for him.
LHP Edgar Barclay: (L, 1-1) 1 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 1 K
RHP Nelvin Correa: 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K
Three hitless innings to begin his 2022 campaign.
Tampa Tarpons (4-3) (Lost to Dunedin, 6-3)
CF Jasson Dominguez: 1-for-5, RBI
6-for-27 with a pair of doubles and a run batted in.
C Antonio Gomez: 0-for-5, 2 K
A tough 2-for-24 start.
3B Marcos Cabrera: 2-for-5, 2B (1), RS, K, SB (3)
While some have struggled a bit at this level thus far, Cabrera is thriving early on.
1B Anthony Garcia: 0-for-3, BB, 3 K
He can be fun to follow, but hopefully, the contact rate starts to improve.
RF Madison Santos: 1-for-3, RBI, RS, BB
SS Ben Cowles: 0-for-3, BB, 2 K
LF Ryder Green: 2-for-4, RS, 2 K
Green started slow, so it is nice to see him put up a multi-hit game.
DH Raimfer Salinas: 2-for-4, RBI, K, CS (1)
2B Luis Santos: 0-for-3, BB, 2 K
RHP Tyrone Yulie: 4.2 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 5 K, HR
Yulie cruised through four innings before running into trouble in the fifth.
RHP Carlos Gomez: 3.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 6 K
6.2 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 HR, 1 BB, 10 K. He is 23 years old.
RHP Enrique Santana: 1 IP, 1 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 0 K
