I thought for sure that whoever wins this series makes the playoffs along with Red Sox for WC game. But with the red sox losing 2/3 against Os, there is still a realistic chance we can be that 2nd team.

i have do disagree. if the Jays dont even make the playoffs, I dont see Atkins as deserving given all the trades the yankees made when they were basically 500 in late august and still behind The Blue Jays going into this week.how can anyone say Atkins did as good a jib as cashman.
the trades for Rizzo Gallo and Holmes turned their season around. Holmes came in when Chapman blew 3 saves in a week and Britton went down for the year and was rock solid. Cashman got Gallo and Rizzo and got Texas and The Cubs to pay their ENTIRE salaries, so the wont even pay the Luxury tax.
even if the Jays sweep baltimore, they'll have gone 7-6 in their final 13 with 10 of those games against the last place twins and orioles. and based upon their play of late, a sweep of the orioles is far from guaranteed. with even one loss to baltimore they finish under 500 when it mattered most.
even the most optimistic fan cant see that as impressive especially when by the end of the season you'll likely have 4 30 hr 100 RBI guys. and when you consider that the Jays spent almost $300 million in Free Agency over the last 2 years with nothing to show for it, I doubt ownership is too happy either.
Teo was really bad at the plate this series. We're still only a game back of the second wildcard, but it isn't too encouraging to have had a stretch like we just had. Splitting the series against the twins killed us.
Well it's been fun !
I'm not gonna complain. Just build around this team for next year! They have to sweep the O's and the Yankees need to lose 3 straight. Plus the other Mariners and Red Sox have have to lose
thats how I see it too when youre going into the last week of the season with destiny in your own hands playing 7 of 10 games against 2 last place teams, you have no one to blame but yourself. win 3 at home against the Yankees and you bury them. They held the Hammer and blew it
Blue Jays blew it...y'all had your shot and you guys blew it by losing last night. But even if y'all sweep Baltimore, it probably won't matter because you guys would finish with a 91-71 record which probably won't even be enough to make the Wild Card unless the Yankees end up losing 3 straight and or the Red Sox end up losing their last 3 games and then you also have to hope Seattle and Oakland lose games too to even still have a shot
The key will be ownership extending Berrios and resigning Ray and Semien. After spending almost $300M over the last 2 off seasons with no postseasons to show for it, the question is will they? Gotta figure between the 3 of them that’s another 100-120M in contracts over term.
Bichette Guerrero awnd Teoscar Hernandez are gonna want more too. But if you want to play with the big boys, you got to pay like them too.
And for those who say Ryu wasn’t expected to be an ace at 20M, of course he was. That 20 million was the highest salary given to any Blue Jay pitcher ever. You don’t do that if you don’t plan on him being your ace.
He may not have lived up to that expectation but at the time of the signing. That certainly was what they believed they were getting. You also don’t have him start game one of your biggest series of the year either.
$20m a year isn't ace money. He was going to be the ace here by default last year. He wasn't even the ace in LA before signing here.
I've said it before but we should extend Matz. He's been real good for months now.
Bottom of the order putting in that hard work.
Jansen since the start of May:
144 PAs
.271/.343/.901
21.5% k rate
8.9% bb rate
9 HR
23 RBI
140 wRC+
What a game by Biggio
Well that finished a lot closer than it should've been. W is a W though and we need some help elsewhere.
Jose is gonna be 28 when he rraches FA isnt he? If he has a similar season as this, he easily gets 6 year contract.
Even if Blue Jays sweep this series, it won't be enough unless the Red Sox and Mariners lose their games and Red Sox are facing the Nationals who have been horrible for the most part and the Mariners are facing the Los Angeles Angels who have been average at best this season...y'all have to basically depend on the Nationals and the Angels to do you guys solids
What did I miss? Why were they repeatedly bringing up pulling matz when he was cruising at like 50-60 pitches?
No matter what happens this weekend, we all should appreciate that we get to hear Dan Shulman call these games.
And with that being said, let's sweep these ****ing *****

Yankees down 6-1 early. If they do end up losing and Boston loses and both the Jays and Seattle win and all three teams win tmr and the Yankees lose its a 4 way tie. I know that's a lot of variables but that's insane

Danny Jansen get his eye glasses fixed or something he's been on fire awhile now.
Wow. We’re probably going to be looking at 4 teams within 1 game.
Fantastic start by Manoah.

Did our job today. Have to do it one more time and pray for the Nats and Rays to win.
Alek probably having best rookie season since Hinske.
Soto hits a 400ft sac fly to tie it up in the 8th.
Red Sox get a 2 out RBI triple and single to go up 3-1 in the 9th. Fml.
One of Boston or New York needs to lose tomorrow and we have to win. Right down to the wire.
Espinal and Jansen are on fire!
Manoah I think will be next years CY young winner
Really?
I love that every game starts within a 15 minute window today.
That split against the Twins is probably going to cost us.
Were doing exactly what we need to against Baltimore so far but it may be too little too late.
We need to hope the Nationals hang on or the Rays break through.
Ryu cruising right now.
Yankees only 1 hit so far.
Boston down 5-1. Looking very likely than we have a tie breaker.
Damn, Yankees won a squeaker. Now we need the Nats to rally. Not looking good.
