Its a race now, they had to match the hot streak the Yankees had a couple weeks ago and the run the Red Sox went on earlier this season.
Vladdy is making a real bid for the triple crown just 5 RBI behind Abreu, tied with Ohtani for HR's, and 3 points behind Marte for BA...who qualifies with like 40 less games played.
Semien is leading the majors in extra base hits and will likely finish with 40+ HR's. .
Teo is leading the majors in RBI's per game. He has 102 now in just 124 games. He may be the one that beats Vladdy and not Abreu the way Teo is swinging it again right now.
This offence is foolish! Since the all star game:
Teoscar: 54 RBI's .964 OPS
Gurriel: 42 RBI's .972 OPS
Semian: 38 RBI's .915 OPS
Bichette: 30 RBI's .773 OPS
Vladdy: 29 RBI's .914 OPS
Springer: 26 RBI's 1.014 OPS
Then you have the catchers...
Since coming back from the DL, in the second half they have posted the following:
Kirk: .296/.372/.520 with 5 HR's and 7 2B's in 98 AB's (.... with 11 BB's and just 13 SO's.)
Jansen: .419/.486/1.032 with 4 HR's and 7 2B's in 31 AB's!!!(...with 4 BB's and just 5 SO's)
We have a real fight for playing time going on between those 2. Just when we were ready to right off Jansen he comes back and looks like the guy that tore through the minor leagues once he got his glasses. So much so that Kirk has seen some games at DH lately to give them 7 hot bats in their lineup whether Springer plays or not.
On the other side of the ball, our #5 SP is pitching like a #1 (for most teams..). Matz is 5-3 in 11 starts since the ASG with an ERA of 2.76. (...and that is after giving up 5 runs to the Orioles when he just had to throw strikes as the game was already won. If it wasn't for Ray he would be our hottest SP right now. Since July 1st he has only given up more than 2 ER's three times in 12 starts, and before yesterday he was on a run of 7 straight starts of 2 ER or less.
