At this point, keep him at 1B while slotting in at 3B every once in a while. Even if he has a good arm, he doesnt have good enough coverage at the other positions.

Chicken salad sucks and Vlady would never eat that ****, so many other ways to eat chicken
Derek Fisher is what came to mind when talking about Vlady in the OF? I think I'll just move onQuote:
I dont think even in the outfield he'd be comfortable, like Derek Fisher who'd get hit in the face from time to time
Good start by Matz.
Kinda weird seeing that Matz has a lower ERA than Ryu heading into Sept.
Yes that’s exactly what came to mind Vlad doesn’t have the defensive ability or mindset to play defense. Watch him at 1st, his footwork is all wrong it changes from play to play. After watching Keith Hernández for several years you learn a thing or two. It’s all about anticipation. Watch Anthony Rizzo who’s now in the AL East. He’s the closest thing to Hernández around these days.
What Vlad and Fisher both lack is that neither one anticipates the play. They are positioned by the coaches yes, but rarely do they adjust pitch by pitch according to pitch selection and pitch counts unless instructed to do so, as a result they are often caught flat footed, and react after the fact, rather than anticipating the play beforehand. It’s easy to see if you’re watching for it
If you can find it look for the video on YouTube of Vlad working out in the off-season in I guess it was the Dominican and you’ll see everything is reactionary and not anticipatory…..that fraction of a second is the key
Once again Montoyo too chicken **** to go another inning with starting pitching. Matz threw only 85 pitches and he gets the hook at only 6 innings.
I'm not going to lie, this season has been fun. A few upgrades to the bullpen and re-signing Ray and possibly Semien should bring us close.
I feel bad for the guys, though. If Springer stays healthy, we're probably looking at the postseason right now.
He might be a fulltime DH already.
Definitely more fun than the last 5 years. I don’t feel bad for them though. The team wasn’t ready this year. Anyone who thought they were contenders was high on hopeium.
However - what I hoped for from this season was to finally know what we have in the youth, and I feel pretty good about where they’re at. We still need a (top offensive AND defensive) solution at 3b, and we need a BP. Gotta re-sign the guys and add some major pieces still somehow. My biggest concern is that we may need to add another TORP or even 2 next TDL depending on Ray’s consistency and Ryu’s decline. But if those 2 can keep it up for another season and they add a 3b and BP… this team could be ready.
If semien leaves then I would feel comfortable with Biggio at 2b, but I might be the only one that feels that way.
Romano 2 innings today.
Montoyo Baffles me
Gurriel gets a hit and then Dyson subs in as a pinch runner thinking that Dyson will steal and the next 2 guys will Grichuk and Smith will do something against a lefty. Why not sub Grichuk for Dyson, Dyson gets a sac bunt down and he may actually beat it !
Hand DFA.
I know he struggled but given our bullpen sucks in general, kinda surprising.
