I’ll be honest, I don’t even scout QBs. I don’t consider myself qualified. The position is so nuanced in terms of the mental side of the game, isolating what the QB messed up vs someone else, judging whether a throw will translate vs NFL coverage, etc.

For instance, Mac Jones seems to have the mental side down. But NFL defensive schemes are way more advanced. What I’d want to do is find the instances where clearly he was confused by the other team. How did he handle that play? How did he adjust in the future for what he saw? And then as far as physically throwing the ball, I’d want to really analyze the windows he threw into. Will NFL defenders close them? Does he throw with anticipation or does he wait for guys to get open and then throw? (The latter is a deathwish in the NFL IMO.)

It’s just too complex a scouting job for me to even try, TBH. So I won’t comment on if we should trade up for someone in the “top 5” or if the Trask/Mond/Mills/Newman tier is legit after them. I’ll just keep it generic and say that “if BB thinks he sees a viable starter he better go get him wherever that range is and he better be right about who is or isn’t the guy”. Drafting a QB position I’m going to try to “grade” or share an opinion on.

Why not? The game of football is won and lost at the line of scrimmage. Jason kelce isn’t playing forever. Brandon brooks tore his Achilles’ tendon twice. It’s not a sexy pick but it could help just as much as a cb or WR

I realized the Eagles have a history of drafting OLine and DLine. Build in the trenches. I just don't believe Slater or Darrisaw are BPA at 12. I don't hate the pick but I would be disappointed.

Well, its also just about their last chance to win now with Matt Ryan. The Saints will probably drop, Brady is probably only another year or two, the Panthers will probably be competitive but not great as they look for a franchise QB.

On the other hand the Falcons shouldn't draft this high again any time soon, so like you say, they should grab a QB now... but... the QB they get a 4 this year might be as good as a QB they get at 20 or 30 any other year.



Given how much improvement the Falcons showed without Quinn, I'd say take the BPA for OL or D or trade down for 2 picks.

I think you’re way off with Darrisaw to the Cowboys at 10. First, he’s not even rated that high. The Cowboys insiders are saying they have 4 guys on their board they want 10. The four are Sewell, Slater, Surtain, and Horn (in that order). Jerry has Pitts ahead of them all but I don’t know if Stephen and McClay feel the same way.
