I don't want a QB but Zach Wilson is my choice. I don't believe he will be available. You will have to trade up.

Not sure he'd get past MIA at #18 with Brian Flores down there.
Hightower plays a very unique role for NE. It takes a unique physical profile to be able to do all of the things they ask of him and it's been a vital element of their scheme. I think Collins is uniquely built to play in that role so I think it's worth a "reach" because I think the impact of having a guy who can play that way vs a guy who can't makes huge difference in BB's scheme preferences.
Yea Zack Wilson is likely going 2nd overall now. Atlanta is set up perfect to draft the hometown guy Fields at 3 too. Perfect replacement for Matt Ryan.
The crazy thing is that after the combine or player workouts or whatever they’re going to do this year there is a chance that someone trades up inside the top 5 to draft Trey Lance. That could then cause a team to knee jerk and trade up into the top 10 to draft Max Jones.

I wouldn't be surprised if Trey Lance or Mac Jones end up being the breakout QB of this draft because last season nobody expected Herbert to turn into a superstar QB and win Offensive Rookie of the Year...same thing could happen with Lance or even Jones for that matter or even Wilson
We all thought the same thing in 2016
A really great young QB can change that outlook. Whether that’s hurts or a draft pick
Let’s just say you draft Zach Wilson. And he beats hurts and is basically like this years Herbert or burrow
Would you feel it was worth it? Probably. Suddenly 2022 becomes “oh man just sign this free agent, draft this guy and we’re in the mix”
QB matters a lot. That’s personally why im ok with it. Now I’m personally more ok with some prospects than others. But if they take Wilson, fields or lance I’ll likely get behind it because the eagles have been 2/2 with QBs they’ve taken in the top 10. Ironically both at #2. Which is where the eagles would likely be drafting their next QB in my opinion as I think they’d trade with the jets.
Again. I’ll lay out another scenario. Let’s say jalen hurts plays incredibly well. Don’t you automatically feel infinitely better about 2022. That’s why I can get behind drafting a guy at QB. If they took let’s say Justin fields. And jalen hurts goes out there and slings 28-32 TDs and runs for a few too
Well if you don’t think Justin fields is getting the eagles hefty compensation come 2022 you’ve got another thing coming. Especially when next year is a week QB class. Justin fields on a rookie deal probably gets you great compensation
Trey Lance has all the raw tools to be it, but I'll eat a ****ing shoe if Mac Jones is the best QB in this class. Dude has so many red flags that will hamper him if he goes to a team lacking in talent.Quote:

One is level of competition and the other is the fact that Lance didn’t play this year.
I have also heard that there are a couple teams that like Lance better than Fields. I would not be shocked if a team trades up and drafts Lance ahead of Fields.

I totally disagree that it would be a terrible mistake to trade up for a QB. First off, this is a QB driven league. Hurts played well but he also had his struggles with accuracy. If the Eagles feel that Fields is their guy they would be smart to go and get him.
Fields is not like the previous OSU QB’s where they were more athletes playing QB. Fields is a legit QB that happens to also be a good athlete. Also he wasn’t originally an OSU guy, he’s a transfer from Georgia who has a history of putting out good QB’s to the NFL.
In a year where the Eagles will be in cap hell the best thing they could do is solidify the QB position. I mean worst case scenario they would have one of the better QB depth charts in the NFL with Fields/Hurts. Then once they get out of cap hell they can focus on rebuilding the rest of their team (while the QB position is set).
In my opinion the best thing the Eagles could do is draft a QB.

Eagles if anythin need a receiver more than they do a QB
I think Howie needs to HONESTLY evaluate the QB position.
1) Be true to your scouting assessment on Hurts. Do no let the egg-on-your-face reaction if you replace him after taking him in round 2 last year impact things. Do not "talk yourself into him". Just be fair and honest of if you think he's a QB to be excited about building around.
2) Make the same honest assessment about the QBs this year. Don't talk yourself into or out of drafting one. Just let honest evaluation drive things on if it's worth it.
If the honest evaluation is that you don't have a franchise QB but could get one, you HAVE to go that route, IMO.
This is the only way to go for the eagles. If the eagles think jalen hurts is a franchise QB then you take a WR
If you think one of the QBs (Wilson, fields, lance) have franchise potential you don’t pass them up
Thing is, Arizona drafted josh Rosen and then the very next year took Kyler Murray
I think franchise QB is everything so being honest for Philly is more important than worrying about the optics
I keep reading “eagles owe it to jalen hurts” no they don’t. Jalen has played 4 games. The only thing they owe him is a fair swing at the job.
Again, there are QBs in every draft. You have to roll with hurts for the next 2-3.
Best case he’s the answer. Worst case we still suck and get draft capitol to rebuild.
Roll with hurts and then give me Sam Howell in a couple.
2-3?
0 chance if he’s not up to par. This is the modern nfl, QBs are succeeding out of the gate unlike any previous era.
Eagles at most will give jalen 1 season and evaluate. If they give him that without already having another guy here
You don’t HAVE to do anything. Franchise QB matters. Eagles would be complete idiots if they ACTUALLY love a guy in this draft but say “well we drafted hurts oh well can’t take him”
It’s easy to say there’s QBs every draft. But Washington took chase young right? Bet they wish they had Justin Herbert, and that’s with young being incredible
Now they won the division and have no QB and aren’t in position to take one
And no I’m not advocating taking one just to take one. I’m merely saying if you absolutely love one, if there’s a guy you think has future franchise, pro bowl ability. You don’t pass him up. 0 chance
2022 draft is next season? I’m confused lol
I mean his size is a big concern. 6-1 possibly shorter has an incredibly low success rate
Tua is a perfect example
If the eagles don’t go with QB this year and jalen isn’t the guy there’s other options. Tyler shough is a better prospect. Sure there can be exceptions. But 6-1 is concerning and if he’s even shorter it’s even more concerning
And if said QB beats out hurts?
I don’t think QB has to be the pick. I also don’t think it’s a bad pick. It’s BPA. Top 10 is for QBs, LTs and DEs. Other picks in the top 10 rarely pan out at the same frequency or matter more. If the eagles stay at 6 I’d be thrilled with one of the WRs. But I also know trading back may be smartest
At 6 though? Taking a QB would be a great idea if it’s the right guy. If he plays really well and has an amazing 2021 season you get nice value for jalen next offseason. Won’t be. 2 per se but you never know.
If they drafted lance and he’s all that and more it was worth it.
The future is unclear, we don’t even know the next time the eagles will be in position to draft a good QB prospect. This year at #6 there should be a QB prospect there that would probably be a top 3ish prospect in most other drafts. Hurts and the eagles would really have to tank just to be in that position again.
