Except you asked why on earth the hundreds of people marching down their street would pick their random house to attack. So, yes, you made their “being alarmed” the issue.

They had some potentially violent protests last summer out here. So I am talking to me Korean next door neighbor about making sure his elderly parents don't go downtown. They both get confused pretty easily and don't speak a lick of English. So I am talking to my neighbor about what we are going to do about protecting our neighborhood and he says.... No one entering my house will be alive when they exit it. I like guys like that.

Again, they're free to "be alarmed" of the scary black people all they want. How they reacted to it is the issue. They had no more reason to think they were under attack than anyone else in the CWE did that day, and yet mysteriously no one else reacted like that.

Because approximately 300 people were trespassing on a private street that required gate entry. Large gatherings of people can turn violent at a moments notice. See January 6, Ferguson, Portland, Minneapolis…

How do you know that nobody else in the neighborhood armed themselves, or felt that their property could be harmed, or that they weren’t keeping a watchful eye on the 300 people marching down their street? You don’t. Yea, we know the McCloskeys acted like idiots, but you’re arguing that their doing literally anything was an overreaction.

Don't forget that they literally destroyed property to enter the private neighborhood. And it isn't like this happened during a time period when the BLM protests were causing large swaths of property damage and violence.
