I’ve said before that if Musk can get conservatives to start buying electric vehicles and taking Climate Change seriously he’ll be one of the most impactful people of the 21st Century. I’m rooting for him in that regard.

That's one good thing Musk has done. He's expediting the switch to electric vehicles because Tesla has become arguably one the most popular car brands in the US. Yes, you had electric vehicles before Tesla but they weren't anywhere near as mainstream as they are now. This will help as other auto manufacturers switch to producing more electric vehicles and presumably to keep up with Tesla, make them cheaper.
