To my understanding, there were those who were not a part of the KKK who wanted to defend the statues because it is a part of their history. The KKK hijacked the crowd and started causing a ruckus. You're intentionally framing those that stayed as individuals who supported the KKK so you're already fabricating something that didn't happen.
