They tried to hunt down Mike Pence, Nancy Pelosi, and anyone else who they saw as a threat to keeping Trump in power despite what the people and electoral college electors said.

why is it bad to use January 6th compared to other rioting?
January 6th is nothing compared to other rioting and violence in America.
that doesn't mean it was okay or the people that were rioting shouldn't be held accountable. but people obsess over January 6th as it was the worst rioting in America. reality, it wasn't.
Here’s an interesting question. Suppose Pence had decided to do what Trump said and refused to certify the electoral votes and declared Trump the President.
Do you think Trump would have used this to stay in power? Do you think Republicans and Republican officials would have gone along and declared Trump the rightful President? Would you have?
Short answer -- No. Biden won the election fairly.
So you're telling me people weren't dealing with riots out in the streets with cars burning, buildings burning, people getting shot, and an entire area occupied in Seattle with someone who carried firearms and attacked people? That's not dangerous to civilians who live in those areas and had to experience that?
'Attempted.' It was a small group of punks. Do you really think they were capable of stopping anything? I mean, Jesus Christ, I'm sure you've seen far more horrible **** in the military than this but I'm supposed to act like this was a mass scale invasion that put America in jeopardy? What reaction do you want? It happened, those who stormed it should be held accountable, end of story. We don't need a history book on this.
We’re you in Seattle when that happened?
Again, what is your definition of small? There were hundreds, enough to overwhelm the security of the building.
I’ve never seen anything like that happen on US soil. People charging the Capitol to keep a guy in power is what happens in 3rd world countries, not the leader of the free world.
It happened and we should not forget that it happened, especially not a mere 4 months after it happened.
Do I have to be in Seattle to see the **** that happened there? Is this the stance you want to push here? You're more intelligent than that so why play that card? Were you in the George Floyd altercation? Hmm, guess you can't have an opinion on it.
Thousands of people showed up. The wide majority of people there did not participate in those clownish antics. It's like blaming protestors for the riots created by the very small minority. Many of the people who did storm the Capitol weren't violent. They just got in and followed the rest of the crowd. There were only a very few people of that group who ended causing mischief and some were White Supremacist members on a terrorist list that were up to no good to begin with.
It was a bad day, period. Not once did I defend it. It's just not some life changing event as compared to someone witnessing their streets being burned down right in front of their home.
I think Trump would take any legal approach to stay president as long as it took and I think Republicans did feel there were irregularities in the election and thus, believed it was a false election. Again, this hypothetical scenario you are trying to place on me to get an imaginative response is pretty bizarre to me. I don't give a F. I think Republicans dropped the ball on the election fraud issue and Trump would have done much better for his 2024 odds if he gracefully conceded. All this other stuff you're asking me is just random as hell designed to generate some GOTCHA response.
You said people experience worse in their daily lives. Then you say someone witnessing their streets being burned down right in front of their home.
Yet at the top you’re arguing you don’t have to be there. So which is it? You’re far too intelligent to be arguing opposing points like you are, so pick one.
Also, it is very interesting you are trying to trivialize the severity of Jan. 6th and in doing so are wildly exaggerating what happened in Seattle. I live near Seattle, it was not the war zone you are making it out to be.
