Also, the more Norm starts, the more I think they should extend him instead of hoping he leaves after this season. He started out slow this year, but keeps playing better and better. He has now scored 20+ in 5 straight and and is shooting over 40% from deep for the 3rd straight season. He has shown that if you play him 30 minutes, he is going to put points on the board. In his 8 starts he is averaging 20.5 ppg in 32 minutes this year, and in his 26 starts last year he averaged 18.7 ppg in 31 minutes.

Last year they were 20-6 in the games Norm started, and this year they are 5-3. So the team does better when Norm starts. He is still just 27 for another few months, so he is just entering his prime.

I think the fastest path back to being a top 4 team in the East is locking Norm up to be our starting SG before he hits the open market, and then trading Lowry for a starting 5 with multiple years of control. (Hence my trade suggestion in the other thread)

This team has 2 championship starting caliber PG's, but 0 championship starting caliber 5's to go up against guys like Embiid, Adebayo and AD. That is what we need to find again. We had 2 of them and let them both slip away for nothing.

When Lowry wasn’t there his efficiency was terrrrrible. Think he was trying to do too much. I have more faith in FVV now than I did then.

I think Lowry can babysit guys and get people going. With FVV, he's not going to babysit you, you have to find your own shots. So guys who don't really know when to pick and choose their moments or are just passive by nature are going to struggle with FVV leading.

Do you think that will come with his career progression? Early on he really struggled to find his own offence, now it looks much easier with his extended range and the fact he also is using an in between pullup which is sweeeet! I wonder if at some point when all else comes natural to him, he just naturally becomes a better playmaker as well with time of course.

This team went 12-2 without Lowry last year. I don't know about you, but I care about W's and L's, not if my PG can babysit someone...lol

Also, if we are being honest they are probably another couple years away from competing for another title after losing 4 of their top 6 championship players. OG and FVV weren't even starters on that team and Serge was the top scorer off the bench.



Just look at the talent they lost the last 2 years:

Kawhi-> starting SF/best player
Gasol-> starting C
Green-> starting SG
Ibaka-> top scorer off the bench/6th man


I think they either turn the page and trade Lowry, or they will regret it in a few months when he signs in LA too (or Phi) for peanuts like Gasol did to try to win another title. He took a 2yr/$5M deal to leave us to go play with Lebron and AD. I know he struggled last year, but you have to think the Raps were offering more than 5M for 1 year. This team would have brought back its entire starting 5, but lose Lowry after this season and they will lose 5 of their top 6 players from a championship roster for absolutely nothing.

I will keep his Jersey in my closet for years and years to come, but I think his all-star days are behind him (even if they get good Siakam and FVV will likely be the 2 guys that make it.....and they aren't getting 3.) It is time to use that trade piece to complete this new core like they used Derozan and JV to build the last one.

I agree that a trade makes sense. Not sure what trade pieces we get back in return. I'm happy with expirings and draft picks. If they take on any salary beyond this year it means they won't be able to do near as much this off-season.

Officiating was really rough in that quarter. A lot of players that consistently pressure the officials. They can't be graded well on that one...

I've found officiating rough all season and I don't like blaming officiating.
